Phinsanity's Get Real - What did you expect?

Because every situation is different. How the quarterback plays isn't a cut and dried thing.

Again, there's nothing wrong with having standards and nothing wrong with being pissed when those standards aren't met. But the guys who said he had talent and could turn out to be good and got killed for saying it deserve the credit if they turn out to be right just as they would get the blame if they were wrong. Taking a stand subjects you to that risk. And that reward. Just as taking a stand that the guy blows and needs to be replaced subjects you to that risk and that reward.

Now if you're saying you never took that stand on him, that you were/are judging him week to week and had no overall evaluation, then fine. But is that what you're really saying?

As for the "Henne Haters" label. I doubt if you searched my posts you would find that term. I stayed out of most of these debates for the sake of my own sanity the fact that I don't like having to buy a new computer because I broke the one I have smashing it against a brick wall. But posters I like and respect, like RobertHorry, got subjected to a lot of abuse and condescension. It's important to me that people like him get the credit if the thing turn out roses and that the people who thought otherwise not weasel out of what they said and thought.

What I'm saying is we've played one game and Chad Henne played very very well and the "homers" and coming after the "haters" hard.

But when week after week after week Henne played terrible, the "homers" didn't want to hear it lol.

not really...to be honest...but i guess i should have been on here last night during the broncos game to get a better feel of what was going on

I think what he's saying is that there's a different standard on how a player gets evaluated if he's not a member of your favorite team. People tend to blame their coaches when it's their own team and the player when it's not. And I'm not going to argue with that, because it's certainly true.

But I think it's also a standard that mostly applies to people who only watch their own teams' games and don't really know much about anything or anyone else.

Exactly.

Just like when a player a lot of people wanted goes elsewhere and then gets injured and is out for the season.

"Well I'm sure glad we didn't draft Eric Berry!"

It's just ignorant.

I always love that argument for injured players. Like say if Will Allen had signed elsewhere now and got hurt in a game week 1....like it is a forgone conclusion he would have been hurt in game one here too, and evidence as to why he should have been cut. Humorous.

absolutely...too many people who have no clue whats goin on around the league...

I was talking trash in VIP chat about how I was loathe to read your rant today, but I appreciate the fact that you gave Henne his due credit. Good post.

Well, yeah. Of course they don't. No one like being wrong, especially when they're an arrogant son of a ***** like me.

But you've also got to admit that it's been open season on the "homers" by the "haters" since the middle of last season. I don't blame anyone who's been subjected to that abuse for doing a bit of strutting.

But that's not what I'm doing, nor do I consider myself a homer. I just want things to be fair. People should be happy when they're right and if they actually did their homework and therefore didn't arrive at their opinion by luck or simple mimicry then they should be allowed to brag a little, too.

If someone was a Henne defender and then if the season went to **** tried to weasel their way out by hemming and hawing and pointing to qualifications they made in their arguments what would we think of that person?

I put in the time and I stand by what I think. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But if I'm right, I'm not going to let people who were wrong claim that they were right.

i think when you read stuff like that you need to take a look at the poster...and it will probably tell you all you need to know...i just ignore the dumb ****...or at least try to...god knows theres plenty of it

You won't find a dude more arrogant, more ****y, and more conceited than myself lol.

If Chad Henne becomes a franchise QB...I'll love being wrong for a change. This team and this city means A LOT to me. It always will. I was born into this. So I'll take being wrong every day for the rest of my life if I can see this team win something worth talking about for a change. Division titles, playoff wins, AFC title games...nothing but a free tshirt to me.

And it has been open season on the homers. And the reason for that is because Henne's poor performances FAR outweigh his even average performances.

Absolutely. No argument here. Plenty of people are plenty stupid.

It makes me wish there was a fantasy draft for opinions. There'd be far less hiding and bull**** if people got graded on a point scale every week for how they'd "drafted" before the season.

as do i...and i'm not afraid to admit when i'm wrong...i said this offseason off what i saw from henne last year that i thought he had too many flaws that weren't correctable in his game...that i didn't think in this new offense that he could process info quickly enough and get the ball out to the proper man timely...and i'm still not sure he can...i see some of the same issues in the red zone i saw last year for instance...i heard former pats player bruschi say that the book on henne in the pats locker room is he's a one read guy and immediately goes to his check down...i have seen some growth though also...the back shoulder sideline throw is not something he's had in his arsenal in the past and he showed that last night...thats as difficult a throw as any and he seems to be making strides there...he seems to show a little better feel for stepping up feeling outside pressure and still looking down field...there was some nice throws down the seam that in the past i've seen him struggle with...so far pretty good...i'd love to see that back shoulder throw in the red zone...we'll see what the next 15 games brings
