Here is a player that was not on the list. QB Matt Moore.

Because I don't think he'll be the starter. Philbin brought in Garrard and has really done nothing but damn Matt Moore with faint praise. I can't see Matt Moore being on the team after the trade deadline, and the likelihood to me is that they'll move him significantly before that.

Personally Michael egnew! Tight ends are huge in this league and almost every contending team has a real good tight end.

Garrard? Really?

We are going to start David Garrard and trade away Matt Moore?

Wow.

Is this the same David Garrard that was beaten out by Blaine Gabbart in preseason last year? :err: :scan:

My guess is the turk is gonna find him pretty quick this summer.

The new coaching staff brought in Garrard, not Moore. Those kinds of factors have a way of impacting the depth chart, don't you think?

I'm not saying anything like that is absolutely going to happen, obviously. It's just my guess. If you're developing a rookie you don't want him as the third stringer, studying the opposing team's offense on film to get ready to run the scout team. You want him as the 2nd stringer, studying opposing defenses and preparing as if he will start. That's much better mental preparation for a young guy.

So someone between Garrard and Moore is likely to end up the third stringer with the other at least the initial starter. Given that Moore has potential trade value and wasn't brought in by this coaching staff, my guess is he's the one that "loses" and gets traded.

I think Ireland brought in Garrard at least partly because Ireland also brought him in last season but his back needed a operation. So I do not see this as a "new thing" that our new coaches did. Garrard is a seasoned NFL QB and could very well be the next QB to come in if Matt Moore is injured.

I would assume that our new coaches would go with the QB (or players at any position) that has the chance to win us the most games. (crazy thought but it could work)

If Moore beats out Garrard and Tannehill, our coaches would seem foolish to trade him away for a 5th round pick and start one of the QBs who lost the competition.

And I'm not sure how much trade value Matt Moore has if he loses out to both Tannehill and Garrard.

I went with Daniel Thomas. He showed a lot of promise at the beginning of last season, particularly in the Cleveland game. If he can have a breakout season we would have a nice backfield tandem. And with our current WR group as weak as it is and the possibility of a rookie QB starting games this season, we'll need that.
