Possible new Punter..

LOL.....I figured someone would respond this way. But if you REALLY need to know, it was on one of the recent episodes of either Phinside the NFL (Youtube) or Big O. Like I said before, "take it with a grain of salt." But honestly, I don't really care what you think! . Now, that's something you can bet on.
Expected response.

I know we had a punter that had the ability to trap teams back inside their own 20, but honestly I miss the days of having a Roby type punter that could just boom the ball
Yep. Just flip the field and make the other team go as far as they have to for a score. Roby when standing on his goal line often got the other team to start at their own 35

Rare for punter to be high draft pick. Center and lb are bigger needs right now. We will know if punter is signed before draft. Defense needs upgrade at lb

In sampling these threads I'm shocked there was so much love for the San Diego State punter. That has always been one of my favorite teams to follow. I agree with the league and the way the punters went off the board...the Penn State kid followed by the Georgia kid. Araiza turned me off every time I watched him attempt to placekick. My gosh was everything crude and awful, from the alignment to the tempo to the balance to the leg swing. Incredibly erratic results. Somehow the announcers were shocked.

Granted that was a minor role but it demonstrated that he's an Egor type with very little finesse or attention to detail. And the same mindset carried over to his punting. No big deal in college football but those punts from let's say your own 45 in the NFL have massive fluctuation depending on how clever and accurate your punter is. The odds of a point scoring drive change appreciably if you begin at the 20 as opposed to 10 yard line or inside.

Maybe Araiza can develop a change up game. IMO, the variance between special teams and kicker coaching from college to pro is greater than any other area. That's why so many promising but crude college kickers like the Bengals kid turn into instant stars in the NFL. But Araiza seems to enjoy the Egor attitude and style. We'll see if he can shake the care free tendency of booming it into the end zone and jogging to the sideline as if he accomplished something.

Jason Sanders' 2021 season had nothing to do with the holder. His alignment was screwed up all season...standing 2-3 inches further right at address than his norm from 2020. I spotted it immediately and emphasized it on Reddit and elsewhere. I've wagered man to man on field goal attempts retreating 30+ years. Alignment is everything. That cramped alignment lends to last second micro adjustments and a two-way miss.

If he simply restores his old setup his leg will swing more freely and consistently with a consistent dependable high slight draw.
