Possible WR's To Bring In After Camp Cuts?

Don't know if the Saints will let anyone good go. Most of the lower guys are cfa's. We could have drafted Arrington.
Don't think it will come from here.

i keep waiting for them to let go of devery henderson but he's too cheap and such a vertical threat that they don't do it...that said i don't see much that i'd want to poach off that saints wr core...

Yes, we need to be realistic. Bess is our only WR even remotely close to being proven. Maybe you could argue for Nannee and the injured Hartline, but that's it. Beyond that we have completely unproven UDFA's and late round picks who have shown us little to believe that they'll be anything. Other teams castoffs are most likely good enough to be our #4 receiver at worst, and we need to bring a few in, whether big name guys like Plax, Branch/Stallworth or one of the Williams, or lesser-known guys with talent. I just hope Ireland isn't getting wedded to guys we have who have shown little to nothing.

plax. he wasnt awful last year. preferred him over ochojohnson even before the head butt.

Exactly. The people who are talking about "bandaids" and "let the kids play" and things like that are lost. Its not about not giving an opportunity to some of these bottom of the roster scrubs. And yes, while we dont expect to contend for a title this year, it dosent mean we have to let one area of our offense COMPLETELY RUIN any chance we have of winning games and developing our rookie QB.

WE HAVE TO get a competent NFL receiver in here. Right now we have 3 guys on our roster who have proven they can play in the NFL as a WR. One of them is a great slot man, one has proven to be a 3 or 4 on both of the teams he played on previously, and the other is currently injured. There is just no way in hell we can go into a season like that. What the hell happens if one of those guys gets injured? We have to have at least one more player at this position who we are guarenteed has the ability to play in the NFL. That way you know youre going into a game with at least 3.

If you go into a game and you dont have a WR who can so much as get open, youre totally ****ed. Your offense is not going to have any chance of moving the ball and youre going to put your QB in a terrible situation where he can get himself hurt. We dont need that **** right now.

Yes, Id love to see a guy like Hogan get an opportunity. If a couple of these guys make the roster, thats great. If they not only make the roster, but wind up being legit NFL receivers for us.... thats awesome. But, we cant just give 3 of them a chance just for the hell of it. We cant waive the white flag at the position.

There is no way in hell a team can operate with this big of a weakness at any position in an NFL game. The opposition will ****ing kill your entire offensive unit if there is a link that weak.

Go sign another guy who can be counted on to play. Then we have 4 guys and if one gets hurt, we know we have at least 3 going into a game. Keep 2 of these hopefulls that we have and give them a chance. Hopefully, they will work out and then we know we can make it through the season and possibly even find a player we can count on in the future.

However, I dont recommend just keeping say Roberto Wallace and throwing him out there and hoping he can get it done. This guy has been in this league for a couple of years and is yet to show that he is even close to worthy. I dont see it happening. If you keep a guy like that you have to have 4 ahead of him that you know can play in this league.

Meh... we should develop our talent without resorting to FA's at WR. If there is talent at the line, maybe we should take a look. But it will be better to develop with this style offense at the skill positions than go out of house.

Our Dolphin's lack a true #1 WR. Team's don't cut them, unless there old and don't preform or if they have off field issues. I would look for a trade or maybe Plax. I really feel Plax could help our team. As of right now we have no one team's have to game plan for. Dolphin's are filled with 2,3,4 WR. I have a feeling which I hope I'm wrong they will wait till next year draft.

Maybe James Jones from Green Bay if they will trade him. He know's the system and his contract isn't that bad.

To me that remains a strong possibility. But it depends on what the Packers are willing to do there because Jeff Ireland won't overpay. If David Garrard would just have stayed healthy then I'm sure they would have offered Matt Moore for James Jones.

It also depends on Brian Hartline's health. If it looks like they've got to put him on that new half-IR list where you lose him for half the season...then the Dolphins will doubtless be a little desperate for some help.

My point exactly...I put a thread the other day and got slamed for being horrible...but you just made my point even more valid. all this "let the young receivers develop", but the young WR corp we have (wallace, moore, pruitt, gates) have been in for a few years and only showed enough to be practice squad WR. When do you as a evaluator, determine that its not working out with these guys? it's starting to feel like ireland is set on determining his drafts were all not bust, besides long, pouncy, tan who has been a real success? not to sound to cliche'ish, but you do play to win the games, not continue to hope for next year and say we can draft a WR next year. nothing is for sure.

Your right Jeff Ireland won't over pay. If we could some how convince them John Jerry are 3rd round pick is worth it,maybe they will go for it they need offence line help. I would still trade Moore, Garrard will be back by week one as a back-up and just start Tannihill. Still have Devlin in case Garrard isn't ready and Tannihill get's hurt.

We really do need to get someone in. But it won't be easy. What struck me reading the "why your team sucks" series that Ted Slimm posted was how many teams got slammed by the writer and the fans for their sh***y WR corps. Given a few of them will have waiver priority over us, we'll have to queue for camp cuts.

A trade is more likely, IMO. We should be looking for teams who, like us, are moving from one scheme to another, on either side of the ball. In those teams there are always new gaps to fill and in some may be good WCO receivers who don't fit the new scheme so well.

Yes, I went though the link to the depth charts I provided earlier. When you start looking at the 5-8 receivers on all the teams I couldn't come up with much that was much better than what we have. The top 100-150 receivers in the league are under contract and aren't getting cut. So you are bringing in recievers that are 150-300 and hoping they turn into #1 or #2 receiver. Isn't that the same thing we are trying to do with our own current players? I could see us picking up one that route. But your trade idea is probably a better way to address. We might have a player we could trade to get a decent receiver if our current prospects don't pan out.

it would be nice to pick up a diamond in the rough acorn. maybe a solid veteran who has been outplayed by a rookie will be cut in a salary cap maneuver. anything is possible. if that does not come to pass, expect to see charles clay, reggie bush, lamar miller, daniel thomas, and FasEgnew being a disproportionate part of our passing attack.
