Potential OCs

Kubiak or his OC in Houston would be good choices, I would also be good with Mike Shanahan.
Don't want Turner or Linehan back and I'm not sure about McAdoo. I don't know much about him but Philbin sure does and tried to hire him before.

I thought Kubiak would be a good fit here since the moment he was fired in Houston. Great fit for Tannehill's skillset.

i dont think i can endorse scott linehan...definitely not the dorsey kid...he hasnt had enough time where i'd consider that...musgrave was very good as an oc at uva...

Just curious Hoops why you think Linehan would be a bad choice?...last decent OC I can remember we have had around here..

When Linehan was the offensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins in 2005 -- under then-head coach Saban -- the offense improved its 29th ranking from the previous season to 14th under Linehan.

IMO Philbin will want someone he is familiar with, so that may limit options.

i think he's too conservative...i want a guy that attacks and plays to win at all times...i'm not sure that's what linehan is

anyways philbins probably gonna prefer someone that isn't a threat to his coaching gig in the short term given he's only been a coach 2 years and yet to really establish himself...so i doubt kubiak is an option for instance...probably going to that green bay familiarity tree if possible

Kubiak would be great for Tannehill but his system is really simple so it's pretty much great for any QB. From a skillset standpoint it would highlight his mobility but one thing it requires is good accuracy deep, which isn't Tannehill's forte right now. Then again, vertical accuracy wasn't Matt Schaub's specialty when he came out of Virginia and he cleaned it up.

One problem with Kubiak is that he wouldn't be able to do much for the $60 million we're giving Mike Wallace. That system requires -- or at least prefers -- bigger WRs who can block and are good after the catch. Hence Andre Johnson and spending a first on Nuke Hopkins, who's no one's idea of a speedster. The only WR that Kubiak would be really excited about is Rishard Matthews (Brandon Gibson, too). Coincidentally this is the only WR we have that I'm excited about.

Secondly, by being easy for the QB Kubiak's offense also restricts the QB, especially pre-snap. Remember the story that one of the pick 6's Schaub threw was partly due to the fact he wasn't able to check at the line? I wouldn't want to do that to Tannehill, who is generally pretty good at the line, especially for a young guy. I think he needs to do a better job identifying blitzes but his coverage recognition is very good right now. Why limit your offense with training wheels that restrictive?

what story about a pick 6 being cause he couldnt check at the line with schaub??? kubiak doesn't allow checks at the los???

i think kubiak could find ways to work with a true speedster like mike wallace off pa...even if he isn't what he may prefer...and i think kubiaks system works the field vertical horizontally also

is that a he's never been able to or it was taken away from him for some reason...ie likely he screwed up so they took the power away from him...didnt trust him anymore...

i know he was on thin ice before that pick even

Watch the video. The idea Schaub wasn't able to audible came as a shock to the reporters involved. I don't follow Houston closely enough to know exactly how it worked. All I know is it was a bad look, and if it was a reaction by Kubiak to Schaub's struggles, then the reaction only made it worse, which is bad coaching.

My first reaction to Kubiak was to be inclined to him being our OC. I don't think it's going to happen either way, but after thinking about it more I'm not so sure I would want it happen.

you definitely don't want to take that away from tannehill...so yeah i don't like that...but i don't know the dirt on it either...makes me wonder if the trust was gone...teams take away stuff from guys they dont trust though...so who knows

even if thats the call why not come off it to his next progression??? was that the only receiving option on the play??? it's probably the primary but a part of the problem on that throw was schaubs arm too...didnt have much on it as i recall

i cant watch the video at work...will have to wait...not sure i'm even remembering the same play ha ha

Head Coach or OC?

Woudln't surprise me if they're reaching that far to find a new head coach. Nobody wants that ****ty job. I heard people are declining interviews with 'em.

Thats not surprising as they set Chud up to fail. Its so obvious that there must have been a personality rift or (and let me put on my tinfoil hat) Chud took the job knowing the whole time it was a temporary one year gig.

The play they're talking about is the one J. David Wannysheine mentioned. They don't show it in the video but I'm sure it's out there on youtube somewhere. Search for "derp."
