Pre Draft Depth-Chart is extremely depressing...

fair points...i'll root for em also til i see the writing on the wall...if we start 0-3 that called the writing on the wall...hell even 0-2 is difficult to come back from so it seems

maybe this year we'll get a decent matchup in the opener and not damn tom brady...

I just honestly believe philbin is the kind of coach who will get the best out of the players he's got. He will play to their strengths and will try to get thim in the right positions to succeed. I never felt this way with sparano. I always felt like he was in over his head but I gave the guy the benfit of the doubt cuz he inherited a 1-15 team.

What big time free agents did the 49ers sign that turned them from a 6 win team to a 13 win team?

never said they did but they did not weaken the team that they had in place right off the bat. They did sign Donte whitner and Carlos Rogers in the secondary which in the end had quite a bit of impact(rogers was a probowler)

Not to mention they drafted a guy that had more impact than any draft pick we have had during the Ireland era

Ok, so they got a new coaching staff, picked up some low level free agents(one of which turned into a Pro Bowl player) and drafted players that contributed. Again, why can't the same be true for this year's Dolphins team?

Whitner and Rogers for a start. I dunno maybe others. Their D took a huge jump. You'd have to give the FA additions some credit. It's pretty harsh to call them low level.

I think it's strange this thread is drawing comparisons to the 49ers roster. They weren't the bad news bears. They had talent and playmakers.

Well look at our success so far in free agency, not one of the players we signed was a full time starter for thier team last year not one.
Richard Marshall
Jerome Westerman
Artis Hicks
Tyrill johnson
David Garrard

These are low level free agents
whitner and Rogers were effective starters throught their career and were full time starters their previous year.
I dont see anything in Ireland's history to suggest he can get these type of players convinced to come here without overpaying

I am going to reserve my judgement on how awesome or crappy this team is until I see a finished product on the field. Some players, whether they are veterans or rookies, could thrive in a new WCO system.

I obviously would have liked a better QB at the helm, but I think Moore is serviceable and will now take reps as a first stringer and the competition from Gerard will be good for him. I Moore is not up to the task, Gerard has healed up and can step in.

I think we draft a WR to replace Marshall (I like Floyd) because there are ton of them in this draft. I am thinking either the first or second round.

If we fall flat on our face this season and finish as the worst team in the NFL (further cementing us by some as the supposed laughingstock of the league), we get a nice consolation prize in Matt Barkley. In the words of Alfred E. Neuman "What me, worry?"

I think what Nublar is trying to say is at the time no one was gushing over the signings of Whitner and Rogers. Rogers turned out to be a geat signing, Whitner helped but I doubt many Bills fans are missing him

What exactly did I say about Ginn or White that I should be eating crow about? lol. You are just throwing out names to try and decredit me. That is fine, like I said I have learned over the years the difference between the strong and weak fans.

Riiiiight. Im a weak fan because I want better than absolute crap out of my favorite team year in and year out. Good one, dude.

And you said that the aforementioned players and coaches were good, and you were completely wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Start eating crow.

Ok, I just wouldn't call players who were starters and are being brought in to start low level additions. Just because they weren't given Richard Marshall sized contracts doesn't make them insignificant additions.

Jim Harbaugh. :)

And as a first time NFL head coach, maybe Philbin can have that kind of success with his new team. One can hope. People seem to forget conservative coaching lost us a lot of games last year. With a better coached team, an easier schedule, and even marginally improved QB play this team can contend for a playoff spot at least.

Granted, there are still a lot of questions left to be answered including the draft. So to say this is a 3-4 win team at best is nonsense, in my opinion. We don't know what Philbin is going to bring to this team. We should let this offseason play out before we consider this season a failure in early April!

I am in the class that we need to wait and see what the final roster looks like before making a decision. It is early April, let's see what things look like in August once the roster is finalized.

We better hope those young guys bust out, or this team is in for epic failure in 2012... Other than Jake Long or Reggie Bush, there are no "name" players on offense.

Hmmmm. Just watch the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles with big names on both offense and defense and come and talk to me after about your no "name" players theory.

You can also watch the Miami Heat of 2011 with big names...

Its not always about big names, it's about chemistry, team work, good coaching, and luck as well...

Wait.. the Heat who were in the Finals? Is that failure? They lost to a team with multiple HoFers on it. I believe in the importance of all the things you listed but let's not underestimate the crucial element of actually having talent on your team.
