just because sammy morris averaged 4ypc behind our offensive line last season, and played his guts out ( i know most of us admire him for that) saban doesnt owe him anything, last year was last year. i could see morris and or minor leaving

I don't think Vonnie Holliday will make the team. He's just not a good player IMO, and I think Bowens will beat him out.

i love how people think we will cut reggie howard, he is a starting caliber player, why cut him? and i hope we dont sign T-buck, last thing we need is another over the hill defensive player, but i remember the article stated that T-buck contacted Saban, which was probably a funny conversation..

John St Clair played C with the Rams (his first year or 2 there) and in college. But I agree McKinney wont be cut

I thought StClair only played C in college? You sure he played it in the NFL? :confused: I thought StClair has also only been in the league for like 4 years, so if he played it for his first 2 years there, then he hasnt been away for that long....... interesting if thats true.

Either way, McKinney will be our starting C next year unless a miracle happens and Wade Smith somehow pulls it off...

Travis Minor might be cut, Morris I dunno about. I like Morris because of the fact he can play FB also.With Morris, we kill 2 birds with one stone. We get a backup RB and FB in 1 player. I rather have Morris on the roster and have a free roster space than someone like Martin/Moa and a #4 RB.

Gotta figure we keep 4 RBs and 2 FBs....

A) Brown, Gordon, Harris, Morris at RB with Evans and Morris at FB, 5 roster spots.
B) Brown, Gordon, Harris, Minor at RB with Evans and Martin at FB, 6 roster spots.

Minor should be cut. He is undersized and in the last year of his contract. We ahve Gordon who is a better 3rd down back than Minor and is bigger than Minor, theres no need to keep them both.

We are NOT releasing Reggie Howard. Reggie is the only "proven" zone CB on the team. Madison is a man CB, Howard played a lot more zone in Carolina before we signed him. Since Poole is down for half the year, why would we cut Reggie Howard when he is the only other starting caliber CB we have on the team? Mario Edwards is a dime/nickel guy and Daniels will compete for the #4 spot unless he has a great preseason and beats out Edwards for the nickel spot.

TimBo will retire. He will not make it through training camp. Whitley will be cut. McKinney wont be cut because he is the only guy on the team who can play center..... who else has played center in the NFL? I hate McKinney, but theres no one else better RIGHT NOW on the team.

David Bowens will be cut if Roth can start. If we have Taylor, Roth, Holliday and Carter who can play DE, we are not paying Bowens 2.2 mil to sit on the bench. He was good last year, but he is small to what Saban seems to prefer at DE. He isnt an OLB and if Roth, JT, and Holliday stay healthy, I would expect him to be moved as a cap move.

Can see CB Howard being cut if some other free agent CB's become available. He wouldn't restructure contract and is due a 1.25 million dollar bonus. Eating 3.75 million in dead money is tough, but won't matter if he's not a Saban guy. Would cost an additional $750,000 against cap, but this could be covered and replacements signed if DE Bowens(1.65 cap savings) & T St Claire (1.1 millon cap savings) are also cut. Bowens for the reasons you stated, St Claire because he loses his starting job to McDougle and Alabi gets a roster spot (Houck's guy, won't risk losing him from practice squad).

Oh how I hope he gets cut! NcKinney was the worst of our offensive linemen, getting bull rushed by anybody and everybody. Eventhough the scheme was horrible and the coaching worse, I would have to attribute the joke of an offensive line we had last year to McKinney's incompetence.

I believe the receiver they got from the Arizona Cardinals.

and if you're going to pay howard 3.75mil a year and he's not the caliber of Ty Law, why not pay Law 4.0mil as an upgrade over Howard.
