Pretend Ricky never retired..........

What if Ricky got suspended for eating cornflakes? I think the marijuana issue is ridiculous. He could smoke ten packs of cigarettes a day, have beer for breakfast. lunch and dinner. Take painkillers like candy and not have to answer to anyone. But smoke a joint and you're a deviant. Come on. It's a personal decision that in and of itself affects no one but the user. What if it really is more effective than Paxil for SAD? Why should he be penalized? There are so many more "real" issues in our society. And yes drug abuse is one of them but he wasn't being accused of being a junkie or anything like that. He didn't harm anyone, or wave a gun around and threaten anyone. He didn't hold out for more money. He made a decision that he felt at the time was best for him. (Personally I thought the timing sucked.)
I hope he's able to come back and be success at football - something he has a unique gift for. I am thankful. Being a professional athlete requires a ton of discipline and sacrifice. And yes there's a great finacial reward. Then again in ten years he may not be able to get out of bed b/c of all the abuse his body has taken. There's risk and reward.
I follow football to be entertained. For me it's an amusing distraction. I've found tons of drama and interest from this whole situation. There promises to be a lot more before its over. It's not life or death, (not even losing to a division rival). For me it just a fun escape with human interest and competitive spirit. That's my take.

I get it now! Enig doesn't want us to answer the question, he wants us to agree with him. Well I could suck up my pride and say "Ok, enig you are right". But I won't. Your arguement is b.s. Anyone who came with a logical arguement you jsut insult them, and change the topic. Your a hipocrit, and I can't say you are wrong. But I disagree with you. I have my opinion, you have yours. It's like the "Did we decsend from Adam and Eve, or did we crawl out of the ocean" arguement. There is no answer we can offer, but we all have our opinions. Acceot that we disagree and try to actually argue rather than throwing insults around like a 12 year old who just got the beat down.

Since the whole thing started I've always been a "Ricky Hater" but I have never tried to get the "Ricky Lovers" to be Ricky haters. They have their reasons for forgiving Ricky and welcoming him back with open arms and I have my reasons for wishing he would just go away forever. Just as most people probably don't understand why I don't want him back, I can't understand why most people do want him back! I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is though. Was it to change Ricky lovers into haters? Because I doubt that there will be any conversions at this point. Everybody is pretty much set on where they stand with the whole Ricky debate. And I respect that.

BRAVO! My opinion exactly!

Enig....I agree with most of what you say on RW. But in my opinion, you aren't going to change anyone's mind. And you can't just bash everyone who has an opinion that does not agreee with yours. Debating is one thing, but you should respect the opinion of others--even if their opinion is wrong. ;) Again, you and I agree on this Ricky thing. Maybe just be a little more gentle.

The thing that will get me and will be left to buzz around the realm of question marks forever relates to if Ricky had stayed....We had a completely revamped line, an awful one at that. I don't think that Ricky could have pounded it up the middle 35 times a game for 100 yards each game.

What would have happened if he never left? Who knows. There's a possibility that he puts up a rusty 1, 000 yards on too many carries.

Season before last, the only thing that gave Ricky adequate recognition was the fact he ran it so much. That's partially why bringing him back is not a good idea to me. I felt that coming into last season, and now even, he's incredibly overrated. People are seeing him as a god-like 5.0 yard per carry shadow haunting and daunting those fragile minds. But really, 3.8 per carry season before last, a year out of the game and he's superman all of a sudden?

Actually, the fact of the matter is I would think you were a brainless fool if you didn't form your own opinion. That is why I asked YOU what you thought about the situation I presented. How is this a freakin' Adam and Eve question? Dude.........let me simplify this again, since you're obviously trying to make rocket science out of it................ready............here goes........

How would you feel if the offseason went normally, training camp commenced, then suddenly right before the season was set to begin the NFL suspends Ricky for the year for testing positive multiple times for weed after already having been warned twice prior?

Is that really that friggin' hard?????????????????? That was the question! You decided to take your hatred for anyone with an opposite opinion and spin it every friggin' way possible without answering the d*mn question. I wanted to know how you guys felt........that's why I posed the question. I have no other alterior motives and if you're that insecure and can't answer the question because you think I'm trying to brainwash you - then you have serious problems.

How is my argument B.S. anyways? You haven't explained. I merely stated I thought people would be less likely to have been sympathetic because all that hubub about finding himself and the plethora of other reasons he gave for retirement wouldn't have been aired all over the media.......instead he would've just been suspended.......... How is that B.S.???? That is my f*ckin' opinion as the rest are yours. Grow up brother. Not everyone is going to agree with you and some people will have extremely different opinions so stop crying about it and answer the question. Show me you're man enough to answer it without turning this into some stupid p*ssing contest.

How am I bashing????? Literally nobody answered my question, instead opted to take the conversation into other tangents that had nothing to do with the question I posed, which shows you just how overly sensitive they were to anyone who doesn't agree with Ricky coming back........and blatantly throwing around insults...I mean go back and re-read from the start of the thread, the insults started IMMEDIATELY........ Did I throw insults around in my question?????? Hell naw.......... Notice the only time I threw in something sarcastic like a  was in response to some playschool diss somebody threw at me instead of answering the question.

I really don't care if anyone agrees..........I was curious to see how the forgivers would have reacted with the hypothetical situation I posed......... It was like pulling teeth trying to get these guys to use their brains think about such a situation - as easy as it freakin' was.......... man, you'd think I asked them to solve the meaning of life or something....... instead I get every answer unrelated to the question I asked........some people even gave me social commentary on the state of the legality of weed.......one guy even wanted to know what my vices were.........my god man.......

WOW enig! You have entirely too much time on your hands to be able to quote and reply to all these responses. I look through this thread and all I see is that damn shirt, one right after another. Yikes!

He can't win, can he? First you guys talk about how he didn't see to be responding to anybody's responses and then when he did respond you say that he has too much free time and needs to get a life. Give him a break. He was just curious to see what you guys thought if the Ricky situation was a little different but I guess he struck a nerve in some of you Ricky Lovers.

.............see what I was saying about them not answering the question, instead trying to take the thread into random other tangents?

I would like to point this out to some of you. He would have been supsended for 20 games. 4 for his 3rd failed test, and 16 for his 4th failed test, that he retired before he had to take, and would have failed.

So he saved us money, and made himself cheaper. Now If I remember good to last season, and I do, fans were mad at him because he quit right before Eddie George went off the market so we couldnt pick him up. Yeah how did he do last year in dallas, got replaced.

Him taking a year off gave him the head to learn not to smoke weed anymore. It gave him time away from practiacally killing himself. In hindsight, the retirement was better than suspension. At the time, I too was mad, because he cost us a chance to be the dolphins. He made me listen to this 4-12 crap carrying over. And lastly he made me listen to this dumb post.

Personally I was more mad at the damn offense being so reliant off a running back that we failed then him leaving. Im glad we brought in ronnie, because ricky wont be here in 2 years according to him. He did mention a month before hand he was contemplating retirement, you think someone would have made a backup plan.

Whatever, hindsight it was a good thing he retired, if he comes back or not, all post retirement shock/hate has worn off as it has for many in the NFL.

We needed this step backwards before we would get better.

Made you listen to this "dumb" post? Wow, Ricky Williams has surely got you whooped like a lil' - well I'm sure you know......... What's funny is I pointed out the exact same thing you did about the suspension.........and I'm the one who's dumb? What's also amusing is how some of you can't come on here and just refute what I'm saying.........ya'll always have to resort to the cheap shots............ You take an otherwise thoughtful post of yours and sh*t all over it with your trash talking.

Let's be nice here, they are Ricky-huggers. Ricky-lovers sounds so dirty.

Hey enigmatics, the other day this dialogue between me and you transpired in another thread:

Hey man can you have a conversation without using profanity? We may let a little bit slip by now and then because of the censor, but seriously, two times in one thread only a few posts apart?

Cut it out man.

I'll be more mindful of that. Sorry.

I warned you and didn't take any action and this isnt the first time you have run into trouble with us. I'm sorry, but I'll have to give you a few days off, you obviously didn't keep your word with the profanity...not just in this post I am responding to, but for a ton of posts just in this thread.

...........let's clear our minds for a moment and pretend Ricky never retired. Training camp kicks off and everything's in full gear. A couple weeks before Week 1 is set to begin, you read on the bottom of ESPN's sportsticker that Ricky Williams has been suspended by the NFL for the 2004-2005 season for testing positive twice for mairjuana............

Now how do you feel about the man?

This question is mainly aimed at those who quickly want to forgive the man, especially in the name of a few 100 yard games or a few extra wins. Alot of you easily forgive him, without an apology at all (which is ironic) ........

Common sense tells me that had the media circus not ocurred and all of that babble Dan LeBetard created in the media about Ricky, nearly every single Dolphin fan would've considered Ricky a deadbeat for kicking Paxil in order to resort to weed and put our whole season in jeopardy. Not to mention Ricky wasn't going to be around for the 2004 season no matter how you spin it, retirement or drug habit........ I do believe the majority of you "forgivers" have been fooled by the Jedi Mind tricks of a man who's unwilling to admit his wrongdoings and has forever considered himself an innocent, unique snowflake..........a true manipulator into making people feel sorry for him, even when he's done wrong.

So let's hear it...........again, season's about to begin, we're all excited..........and then Ricky gets suspended........what say you?

The same way I felt last year (if we don't have Brown). Now that we have Brown, a healthy Gordon, and Houck, I could care less what Ricky does to be honest. Good points. I can't stand Ricky. I really don't want him on the team, but I do believe in Saban, and I think he is leveraging all his resources which is smart.
