Why do you keep trying to deny that he's a damn good back?
If he got suspended for a year I would have been pissed off. We would have sucked and perhaps more blame would be put on him, more than he got last year for retiring. Here's the difference: One year suspension, he comes back to the team (still a force because he's still on the team and has continued working out), we draft... say, quarterback or another area of need, and --because we sucked so bad without him-- the old regime is gone anyway. Our result? A young stud added to our team, new coaching staff, revamped Ricky Williams.
It doesn't matter how he left. Yes, he retired, and it was horrible timing (not to mention a ***** move). What if he had gotten hurt in preseason? What if he got suspended by the league? What if he had to be hospitalized? Whatever the reason, if the guy didn't play last year doesn't mean he is not a good running back.
He's a damn good back and it seriously cannot hurt the team if he comes back this season and (worst case scenario) retires again. We have Ronnie Brown and an all-new mentality, the guy's presence can only strengthen this team.
