Pretend Ricky never retired..........

the great thing about this whole thing is ricky is getting another shot....to make it right if only in his eyes....we owe him a chance to do that, and fortunately doing that is a win/win situation.

i was so furious when he quit last year as we all were, but i am welcoming him back at this point. i really just hope he does it the right way.
On this I totally agree with you... :)

All this talk about morals, many of you forget we are all different people, from different families, all over the continent (and further). Morals mean nothing here, something I consider wrong may be an everyday action by you. Unless you all wish to go by civil standards in which case the only thing RW did wrong was smoke pot.

...........let's clear our minds for a moment and pretend Ricky never retired. Training camp kicks off and everything's in full gear. A couple weeks before Week 1 is set to begin, you read on the bottom of ESPN's sportsticker that Ricky Williams has been suspended by the NFL for the 2004-2005 season for testing positive twice for mairjuana............

Now how do you feel about the man?

This question is mainly aimed at those who quickly want to forgive the man, especially in the name of a few 100 yard games or a few extra wins. Alot of you easily forgive him, without an apology at all (which is ironic) ........

Common sense tells me that had the media circus not ocurred and all of that babble Dan LeBetard created in the media about Ricky, nearly every single Dolphin fan would've considered Ricky a deadbeat for kicking Paxil in order to resort to weed and put our whole season in jeopardy. Not to mention Ricky wasn't going to be around for the 2004 season no matter how you spin it, retirement or drug habit........ I do believe the majority of you "forgivers" have been fooled by the Jedi Mind tricks of a man who's unwilling to admit his wrongdoings and has forever considered himself an innocent, unique snowflake..........a true manipulator into making people feel sorry for him, even when he's done wrong.

So let's hear it...........again, season's about to begin, we're all excited..........and then Ricky gets suspended........what say you?

Seeing that I'm not one of those "forgivers" as you call them, if that happened with Ricky, there would be a whole lot of  + + about it for me... Then after an 'I told you so' or fifty I'd be thrilled with the fact that we can finally move on with Brown and drop the Ricky garbage. If he comes back and runs well, more power to him. Just give Brown as many, if not MORE carries.

I hate Pricky and I will always hate him until the end of his career. Honestly we weren't going to be Super Bowl contenders with him last year and we won't be Super Bowl contenders with him this year either. He is just coming back for a couple of years so that he can get rid of the 8.6 million dollar debt that he is in and then its off to ganja land again. I would be willing to bet that he is still smoking pot like a chimney and will possibly fail a drug test this year. We already got over Pricky by drafting Ronnie Brown but it seems that even though Pricky will not make us Super Bowl contenders in the next 2 years that so many want him back and I just do not understand that. No matter what the players say to the public he will be a locker room distraction and he has proven he can not ever be counted on or trusted but other than that I think its great to have him back:shakeno: .

Dis ... thanks for the props.

As for the compliment on the spinners, I have to credit Byroan for that as well as gottahavefootball for the original avatar.

I'll fill in for Enigmatics here. I frankly would have been choked beyond belief. An idiot that had already been busted twice for drug violations would jeapordize the teams success by being busted a third time. He knew the risks and he didn't care. His own personall gratification was more important than his career, the success of his colleagues and the hopes of the many many fans that help pay his salary. His retirement was the lowest form of cop-out. He couldn't stand like a man and face the music for his 4 game suspension. He knew that he had no intentions of quitting dope, considering the money he had accumulated, and a fourth failed test was a given. You would have all been quite upset I'm sure to know that he was suspended and would call him for the dunce that he is. This is not negativity as I've been accused of before. This is the facts of the situation, he is manipulative. People that are selfish and sociopathic usually are.

First off, let me say I can't wait until the season has started, so that these threads will stop repeating the same subjects. Until then, I'll add to the madness by responding to this one:

"Now how do you feel about the man?" : I don't "feel" anything for him. He's just a player in the NFL, not a person in my life.

"Common sense tells me that had the media circus not ocurred and all of that babble Dan LeBetard created in the media about Ricky, nearly every single Dolphin fan would've considered Ricky a deadbeat for kicking Paxil in order to resort to weed and put our whole season in jeopardy." : I think this did happen.

"[Ricky] put our whole season in jeopardy [by retiring] " : This is where I have the biggest beef in your post... Ricky was not the head coach, nor the offensive (double entendre intended) coordinator, the offensive (ditto) line coach, an offensive lineman, etc. Therefore, to hold him responsible for the team's season is ludicrous.

"a true manipulator into making people feel sorry for him" : I, for one, do not feel the least bit sorry for him. I do, however, want him back on the Dolphins. My reasoning is as follows:

  • He always gives 100% on the field
  • He is low risk/high reward (as the current organization is using him)
  • He has proven to be one of the league's premiere backs
  • The Dolphins organization has not built the offense around him, as a single crux/point of failure
  • I want the Dolphins to win, and Ricky, in his role, will help them to do that.
I think he is a putz for leaving the team so close to the season, but I don't think they should not utilize him this season as a result of it.

I really don not understand the point of creating Hypothetical situations for people to consider. The bottom line is that Ricky quit last year and hurt his fans and his team. We can't change that and it will not help to formulate alternative ways to hate him. You obviously hate Ricky and are unable to forgive him. Others are more forgiving and would like to see him succeed and either stay with the team as a productive member or be trade bait at the end of the 2005 season. Do you think that you can convince people to hate Ricky as you do? What would be the point of that? What is your agenda here? Are you man enough to answer THESE questions?

Very good point.

Enigma-you and I have gone on about this debate about Ricky previously. You called me greedy and I agreed...I am greedy for wins.

First off you are not giving Ricky a chance to apologize. You dont know if he will or not. I would not expect him to arrive the first day, drop everything and apologize to everyone. I am not saying he will, but I think it is premature to expect him to do so.
He owes an apology to the team long before he owes you jack, much less an apology.

Second, to answer your question above, I would have been disappointed if he had been suspended, just like I was last year when he "retired". But I don't hold a grudge like you apparently do.
Life is to short and I happen to want to be "greedy" with life too. And if bringing Ricky back means that the Fins may have a better opportunity to win, well, I am greedy about that too.

Quit acting like he came out and personally b!tch slaped you in front of your peeps, let it go and root for a great balance of Ronnie and Ricky to win some games this year and avoid a repeat of last year.

I could careless about Ricky Williams. He is low risk/high reward, and maybe he'll get some carries to help ease Ronnie Brown through a full season. If he would've just retired and kept his mouth shut about everything than I would hold him in a higher regard, or if he would've retired before the draft last season. I still don't believe he wants to play football, and if he really did why didn't he start his suspension last season? There does seem to be alot of sympathy for Ricky for absolutely no reason except for Dave overused him, which is garbage, would you rather of had Travis Minor taking carries and perhaps victories away?

if anything ricky proved we have no idea how to game plan to the teams strengths and also exposed what a lame duck our entire offensive unit is/was by him retireing....
