Previewing Miami Dolphins free agents

everyone says our defense is over-rated. They are not.

They slipped noticeably in the run game, due to LB turnover.

But, they have stepped up and literally won 2 clutch games thus far, and allow very little points. Lets not blow that D up.

so nolan carroll is not a free agent i take it??? rfa??? if so i tender that pretty high probably a 2nd round tender...same for charles clay 2nd round tender at least...sign or tag grimes sign solia offer chris clemons another 1 year deal for less than $4 mil

make mckinnie wait...cut clabo cog for sure...offer jerry low money on a short term and see if he bites if not bye bye...that way if hes beaten out in camp you can cut him with no real cap hit...

lotta signing talk not much cap talk. don't forget the spending spree jeff ireland has been on last couple of years. grimes, soliai and starks will be top line free agents that we can't afford to tag or sign. maybe we could work out one but we have so many holes we will suffer in a lot of areas if we do that.

Grimes to a 4 year deal, resign Soliai, Starks, Clemons and McKinnie for cheap. carroll of course must stay.

The way our overated defense has played this year I only care about bringing back Grimes. Starks and Soliai have not been all that great this year and the rest are back ups only starting cause we have nobody else. I know someone it's going to tell me how our defense it's great and it's all the offense's fault. Our defense it's just average. Great defenses don't need a great offense. The Giants and Bears of the 80's come to mind. The ravens too. They never blamed the offense. They just went out there and allowed less points than their offense would score.

Ozzy rules!!

Your comparison about why we aren't a very good defense is by comparing them to some of the greatest defenses of ALL TIME? Hahaha come back down to reality.

Keep grimes, solai. Only way I'll keep Clemons, Carroll and McKinnie if they come cheap, if not see ya later.

Grimes, Soliai and Starks for sure. McKinnie for Vet minimum, the rest can go. Im not too pleased with either of the Safeties

Grimes, Soliai, and Clemons look to be the pick of the litter. Other than that we go fishing in the FA pond for what we lacked in the draft. The problem is that rookie OL need to be playing next to veteran OL. We can't rebuild that line in one offseason.

Grimes and Soliai are the only must haves, and I'd say Starks is worth at least a below-market value offer too. All others should be replaced imo.

•CB Brent Grimes - absolutely must come back but is going to be a big contract so naturally Ireland will let him walk...
• DT Paul Soliai - good run stopper and pass rusher in a 3-4. Not as dominant in 4-3 IMO. We need to decide what defense we are going to play. Our great defenses in the 90s were built on 2 tackles that would clog the middle of the line and let the DEs go after the QB and the LBers tackle...Unfortunately our LBers cant tackle, and in 4-3 niether starks nor soliai plug up the running lanes as well as gardner did...I try to keep either soliai or starks but not both
• DT Randy Starks
• OT Bryant McKinnie - get him on the cheap and draft another left tackle for development or to have McKinnie as a backup...
• OT Tyson Clabo - has gotten better as year progressed, but its easy to go up when you are in the basement...ship him out
• G Richie Incognito - this depends on what you want to do with your oline...do you want road graters or do you want lighter more athletic olinemen that can pull...as we have seen this year, you can't have 2 of 1 type and 3 of the other and have it work very well...if we want pulling guards, we need to get them and let richie go...if we are going to try and start a power running game to keep defenses honest and give tannehill some help I say keep him...unfortunatly do to PR reasons I cant see richie coming back even if we when for the 2nd option...
• G John Jerry - he played much better lat year and regressed this year...this decicion is the same as the above, what do you want your oline to do...
• S Chris Clemons - bring him back...

I believe we have over 30 million in cap room this yr

it's an overrated d cause of the lb play...2 of your starting lbs and the ones who pretty much stay on the field at all times play has been poor... wheelers been hot garbage

Grimes, Clemons and Soliai are the only ones we're bringing back. The rest are not worth the contract and can be replaced by draft picks.
