I've seen from Finheaven when it comes to a coaching hire.
Now Nick Saban caused the most buzz on the board, but I remember there being a lot of negativity.
There were those who liked Cam Cameron, but remember during that playoff game against the Pats it was reported that Marty would let his coordinators do whatever they wanted without his interference, and Cam went away from league MVP LaDanien Tomlinson. At that point a lot of people really turned on the idea of Cam as a head coach. There were also those who didn't want him due to his poor record at Indiana.
With Sparano there was a positive feeling, but a large contingent here felt he was nothing more than a Bill Parcells puppet. Hell, there were people calling for Tony to get fired after going 11-5
Yeah reading a few threads there is negativity, but the general feeling seems to be a good one.
I'm not too worried about Philbin not calling plays as he pretty much ran everything else for Green Bay's offense during the week. Philbin will also probably put together a pretty good staff.
No promises he'll be a success, but he's a good gamble to take. My only concern is on a humanity level and hope he's emotionally ready for the job.
