meh...starks the highest rated player on the team doesn't jive for me

I just purchased a one month subscription to them yesterday (currently copying & pasting a bunch of the stats to excel to save) & from what little time I've had to look at the different teams the ratings shouldn't be looked at outside their own position group. For example, Peyton Manning, who just had the greatest statistical year of any QB, was +43.3 & Von Miller, while great but only played in eight full games, was +40.3.

VG point. Remember that PFF is a pay per view on premium stats, and there was a little problem some time ago on copy and paste when it got to be more than PFF was agreeable to. FWIW.

Shelby was one guy who fared better than my expectation coming out of preseason. Terron Armstead toyed with him in the final exhibition game, even thought Armstead wasn't nearly at his current level. The Seahawks will undoubtedly target Armstead, BTW. He didn't have many decisions to make last week, merely blocking the guy in front of him.

Here's a thought. Why not post who you disagree with, and we can discuss/debate what you think. It is what forums are for. So, who shall we start with? Anyone else is more than welcome to chime in.

Thoughts on posted player grades?

I thought the gap between Grimes and Patterson was too much. That's what stood out to me. I preferred Patterson when both were on the field together. I attended the Bengals game and watched both of them closely. Patterson was taking away routes that Grimes could only absorb.

Otherwise, I don't understand Charles Clay so low. Tight ends throughout the league are seldom really asked to block anymore. That level has really fallen off from what I remember in the Marv Fleming days. I don't see how it's such a high percentage of the player grade at that position, compared to basic play making. For all the adjustment in Tannehill's favor, Clay bailed him out countless times. The tough catches he made were in more critical situations than the ones he dropped.

If Clay doesn't make the phenomenal play on 4th down against New England, we lose that game and all the Tannehill adjustents are forced to start from a lower plateau.

PFF grades Clay as the #10 pass catching TE in the NFL. The overall grades are very misleading.

In cover only Grimes is at 12 with Patterson at a 5. Patterson did not play enough to increase his grade. I think it was fair for Patterson in very limited play.

It sure jives for me. Look at the numbers that SB2 put up. Look at his snaps. He wasn't in there as much as previous years. I think they are trying to get Odrick in because they probably plan on having Odrick replace him next year. BIG MISTAKE if they do. Go see the doubles that Starks takes, and how...compare to Odrick...who crumples under doubles.

NEWS FLASH Doc, we agree, :) Odrick played well but, without Starks there will not be the same player. We do need to keep Starks and Soliai.

You should be happy that Reshad Jones has an awful grade. At least that part is spot on.

You should be happy that Reshad Jones has an awful grade. At least that part is spot on.

Clemons ahead of Jones by quite a bit is proper. It was grudgingly accepted around here that Jones was playing horribly. For a few weeks there were claims that he had rebounded late in the season but I didn't see it. Just the opposite. His sliding numbers make sense based on what I saw when I reviewed the games a second time.

I don't like Jones but I think he'll rebound somewhat next season, back toward a neutral grade. We need to use him tighter to the line of scrimmage more often, when his terrible angles and lousy coverage won't be in play, as opposed to his aggressive nature. Actually he's aggressive only when going forward. Laterally and in reverse he's quite passive. He seems to think the occasional airlift tackle makes up for all the sorry plays.

Makes no sense that we got stuck in a big contract for such a flawed player. Ireland was touted for the Jones selection around here so it's apropos that Jones' terrible season played a partial role in Ireland getting the boot.

Clemons has always been solid dating back to his Clemson days.

Never been a flash player, but like he is in the NFL, he's a leader back there. He's a better fit at SS and not asked to cover like a legit FS.
