Puzzling moves; more moves coming?

Akins and Moore did practice, and Chester was re-habbing.

Maybe it's just precautionary to give them more time until they come back full speed?
But, they wouldn't need to do this except for the purpose of roster spots, would they? I mean, that's the only purpose of the PUP is to keep someone on your roster, without them taking up a spot. Maybe they're not quite ready to cut some folks and want to see how they do when the pads come on, figuring they know how Moore / Aikins (can't ever spell that name) / Chester can perform (??????).

You would be surprised. I agree with the process you speak of. It really is more disappointment than surprise I would say. Guys on this board tend to pull for certain underdogs.

If the players were guys you folowed in college it would
be sad or dissapointing. Just seems to me any rookie fa is such a
long shot you should expect them not to make it.

Your guess is as good as mine.

We are just in the same boat as far as wondering why those three were put on PUP.

Bigby had a lot of followers on this board from his days at UCF

But as I said before, I think you would be surprised at the number of undrafted guys in the league. It if far different than the old days when there were 12 rounds in the draft. In those days you were less inclined to see a guy make it.

Akins and Moore were both red jersey guys in the Mini-camps and did not participate in anything other than the walk-thrus. I know it's Akins knee and I believe its the same for Moore (both had the season ending procedures, nothing new).

Yeah, but there's no need to put them on PUP except for roster space conservation: you simply don't ride 'em hard.

Exactly, we just added 5 guys to the roster in our draft picks, and you are only allowed a certain number of players. You're not going to cut a WR with more potential then a safety just because we have less safeties. If we cut Chris Chambers, that's one thing to freak over, but we cut an UFA, who can easily be re-signed if we wanted to. With Saban working as closely with the DB's as possible, don't second guess the coach this early.

DOH!
Yeah, that would explain roster conservation.

I was pulling for Brown and Bigby. These latest round of moves are surprising on one end, given you thought Bigby would at least have a shot in training camp. With the cut of Haw, Miami only has a handful of corners.

Daniels, Madison, Edwards, Howard and Roundtree

That is it. I expect there will be some more moves before tomorrow.

Farmer is a curious move.

We also have Shirdonya Mitchell at cb. I think he'll be someone to watch. He's a speed demon with decent cover skills. It will take some time for him to adjust to the nfl but he could be a keeper.

There is a strong chance he will not play this season

I don't disagree, but he tore an acl at his tryouts before the draft and I do not think he will play this year. If he does that would be great, but I don't think he is supposed to.

haha it doesn't matter. i was just wondering. Kind of ironic really. Someone else was REALLY going on about vann brown on here too the other day.

That was me. I can deal with the slight humiliation in being SO far off target. None the less I would have liked to see that guy get a chance.
