QB Starter News from Greg Bedard

the o-line isn't looking too bad so far this year. Quarterback's have had good time to throw the ball and good passing lanes. He had an entire summer to get over his lack of trust.

Agreed, I thought the line gave them a lot more time in the Jags game

I don't agree with Bedards synopsis of the situation and Sabans comments...It does appear that they may be pretty close to making a decision, but there is not any indication of that being Ferrotte or Feeley...now, since Bedard has written this piece, everyone is jumping on the Ferrotte bandwagon...I still say we are in BIG trouble if Ferrotte is our starter...even more so than if AJ is the starter...

As has been said, Feeley's biggest problem IMHO is his lack of pocket awareness. He doesn't seem to know when to step up or sidestep...he either takes the sack, dumps the ball off or runs away. He needs to develop a pocket awareness, but we may not have the time to let him do that.

What are the Dolphins going to do next year.

Not surprised at all. Gus is clearly better suited to lead this team. Feeley just isn't starter material. Neither is Gus really, but he is the better option. The good thing is, this more than likely means we'll go after a top-notch QB during the next off-season. For that matter, IF AJ is happened to be named the starter, I think we'll still be going after a better QB in the off-season.

Sadly but truly, you're right. This season will go as far as our QB play takes us and since that won't be far, 6 wins and 10 loses isn't stretch, it's more of a reality. Rookie QB to me, is the way to go, let somebody else find out that it takes Drew Brees too long to understand an offense and that his arm is really weak. He brings a lot of questions, will he work as hard with no competition on his back?, was it the system or the length of time he had with it? Any one who gets him should prepare for a longer than normal learning curve, after all he wasn't getting it until the number 4 pick showed up to camp. I don't like Leinart because he has premadonna written all over him, starting with the I will leave, no I will come back soap opera last year. Leinart looks to be the sure bet but, how does a person like him react when they don't win. I like Omar Jacobs and think he is a QB that needs about a year of solid tutelage before he's ready for Pro Bowl greatness, Charlie Whitehurst reminds me of Troy Aikman and may be the type to throw into the fire and come out a better man, for those of you who want to see a rookie QB play.

So where do you guys stand?

Feeley has no trust in the line. That is his downfall.
And having no pocket presence doesnt help either.

I would argue that half the teams (or more) in the NFL don't have a starting QB, that is starting material.
