To me, he's a lot closer physically and skillset-wise to Colin Kaepernick than Eli. No, he's not as fast and strong as Kaepernick, and he may not be as good in the pocket (or out of it) either, but he's not all that far off, imo.

If we could just give him some decent protection and a run game, he could well develop into a pretty good QB. He has a lot of tools.

Eli gets the ball down the field more. He also takes risks. Above all, he is clutch when it count.

Tannehill goes for the shorter routes...he loves him some outs to Hartline... He doesn't go for the long ball near as much... He has very poor pocket presence... And he has shown very little in the clutch. This is the biggest problem he has.

I don't see the comparison at all...

1. Tannehill shorter routes: Runs west coast offense, can't let routes develop because of o-line 2. I would say his pocket presence need improvement but is not poor. 3. Eli was not clutch in his first 3 seasons. Or even close to it (see other posts)

exactly what I said earlier...just less detail....but yes it was exactly like that around here. I still remember all my friends complaining about taking Manning over Rivers was a huge mistake...this was 4 years after eli took over lol their opinions would change very soon

Yeah even the 4th seasons fans were so meh on Eli. They didn't they they would win the super bowl, but that week 17 game against the Patriots was huge I think. That 2007 year was rough for Eli too, but he did take more of a step being a leader. Nobody thought they could make it to the super bowl until after that week 17 game. Everybody thought it would be Dallas. Tony Romo was this hot new undrafted QB that lead Dallas to a 13-3 year with T.O. Everyone thought the Cowboys were going to start to be the team of the NFC East under fantastic new coach Wade Phillips.. Then the Giants beat them. lol
