Starter
another question.....
at what number would you rank AJ out of the starting QBs?
(assuming he does indeed start)

Record 9-7, the year before 4-12 sound familiar.
This is the year they got a OL...B. Farve had time and played a lot better.
Brett was a first round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in1991 and was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 1992 The Green Bay fans thought the coach was nuts! Brett's career as an NFL player had a rocky start, but as he matured in the game and learned from his mistakes, Brett became a better football player. He has achieved great honors in the NFL. He was the first quarterback to set a Green Bay and NFC record for the most touchdown passes in a single season. He has become one of the greatest quarterbacks to play the game.

Obviously, you'll just make up whatever fantasy scenario fits your argument.djfresh47 said:Obviously with Qb who seems to have a higher football IQ, and the coaching staff would have more confidence in I believe there would be hot routes.
I would rather have Peyton Manning running the whole offense last year rather than the group of coaches that were in Miami.
I already see stupid threads like that. You win the chance to probably see the same arguements untill either Aj or Gus solidify the Qb position, and as a bonus as soon as one of the Qb struggles in the regular season you'll probably see a bunch of "Gus/Aj sucks" threads.
Marino had one of the best pass blocking lines in the history of football for most of his career. It was a little easier to "feel" the rush when it was only coming from one direction. How'd he do later in his career w/out Webb protecting his blindside?rafael said:I'm saying he lacks feel for the game. He doesn't have to be a scrambler. Brady is slow as h*ll, but he makes plays when things break down. QBs with "feel" can anticipate which players will come open as the play develops. Marino was a horrible scrambler, but he could feel the rush. Many QBs have strong arms, but the ones that have "feel" instinctively know when to use touch. AJ doesn't feel the rush, he doesn't anticipate how plays develop and he doesn't know when to use touch.

I agree that he doesn't know how/when to use touch on the ball but, the rest of what you said can be explained away through the lack of offensive protection and time for plays to develop. Now, before you go to the old, "he screwed up even when he had time' argument, that's also reasonably explained by saying that he may have gotten a little gun shy.
Getting smacked 20 times a game might make that internal clock roll like a gas pump.
We shall see this year.

What's done is done, get over it.
Looking at his performance last year without taking into account all the f'd up crap that was going on, too much to list, is not fair.
If he blows it this year we go shopping, but the best thing that can happen is he becomes successful as a starter. How could anyone want otherwise?
So pat down your swelling manginas about the 2nd and all the waa waa that's goes with it. Feeley's our guy unless he has a monumental f up, and if he does we'll get a QB next year.
Dudeman said:and you Feeley supporters are ignoring the fact that Linehan WOULD NEVER dump on a QB ruining his confidence before a training camp battle.
Everybody knows AJ has a strong arm.....so what? so do Sage and Gus....we have 3 strong-armed QBs, 2 of which are damn near statues
and another thing, nobody has said he won't get a shot....well, maybe one, and he hails from the 49th state....but thats besides the point
I honestly wonder if there's going to be a mass cult-like suicide if Gus starts. It absolutely baffles the mind that so many on here are AJ or bust, and so unwilling to see Gus start if he proves to be the better QB
dolfanmark said:Here's the thing. If Gus starts, it's another wasted year for this team. Frerotte is a below average NFL QB on the downside of a lackluster career. He is not part of the team's future, and is not going to get any better. At least with AJ, he still has potential to develop into a better than average QB. If Gus starts, we're just treading water, like we have been for the last 10 years. I want the team to move forward and get better. Therefore, I want AJ to start, and I'm going to root for him to become a good player. If AJ proves to not be the guy for this team, then it likely means another 3-5 years of mediocrity. Gus is not going to lead us anywhere. So, that means we have to get a young QB, wait for him to develop, and replace all our aging defenders before we'll be a legitimate contender.
Awsi Dooger said:I don't remember Green Bay fans thinking the coach was nuts. Maybe the Atlanta fans for trading him after only one season.
Favre, as you pointed out, was a 1st round pick. That's what differentiates him from Feeley at the outset; basic ability. I watched Favre defeat a superior FSU team in Tallahassee in '89. Later in that season a Miami team loaded with talent, and that would win the national title, lost to FSU in Tallahassee 24-10. You can't find anything like the FSU win on Feeley's collegiate resume.
I don't mind comparisons as long as they smack of legitimacy. Trying to apologize for Feeley's lousy season in '04 by likening him to Brett Favre doesn't cut it. But as someone who is rooting for Frerotte I'll make a deal; if Feeley can match or better Favre's 6.85 yards per attempt (as listed above) this season then he has proven me wrong and earned the starting QB spot for the forseeable.
Best of luck on that one.
Well, I just think you're wrong about that. :tongue:rafael said:Actually, I was going to go to the old "didn't show feel in Philly either". :D

I'm not sure about Feeley's future with the team, but whoever is posting threats on the message board should be reported to the monitor.![]()
