Head coach Nick Saban said he is open to any deal that would improve his team, and RB Ricky Williams may have put himself back on the radar screens of some RB-needy teams after gaining 280 yards and scoring two touchdowns in the last two weeks of the regular season. Williams, who is signed for the veteran’s minimum the next two seasons, impressed many around the league with his play as the season wore on, and the Dolphins believe his market value has increased. Word is a first-day pick might be too enticing for Miami to pass up. However, it still remains to be seen what Williams’ trade value is, with questions lingering about whether he wants to play beyond his current deal and with teams aware of the fact that he’s one missed or failed drug test away from a year’s suspension.

::To the underlined statement:: lol uhhhh duuuhhh

I wouldn't give Ricky up for anything but a mid to early first.

Unless we find a gem with the pick in exchange then the rookie won't have as big of an effect on the Dolphins for 2 or 3 years.

Not to mention we have 2 of the leagues top backs for the price of 1 average back. 2.7 million total this year for Ricky and Ronnie.

and ronnie's 12 million roster bonus coming right up!

Give up Ricky? WHY?! The running game was very productive this season. Why fix something that isnt broke. We need to improve the D-Line, some D-Backs, and a QB for the future. Keep The Rick and Ronnie in the back field. It works great, and no defense can defend that rushing attack due to the fact that you will have 2 power backs for the entire game instead of having one get tired towards the end. Keep The Rick!

I agree to an extent. It all depends on what we can get for him. If we can get a pick where Nick thinks he can bring in a contributor... you pull the trigger. We have a great back, plus someone that can carry the ball some (morris) so Ricky is expendable.

We have a LOT of holes to fill. IF someone offers us a high 3rd... I think we take it. IF we can use him to trade up and grab someone Nick REALLY likes... I think we do it.

I love having Ricky on the team as much as the next guy. Actually, he played better than Ronnie for a lot of the year. But we have our back of the future. He will only get better with more playing time, which he will not get as long as Ricky is around. IF we can get someone that will help the team next season, I think we do it.

i am so against trading ricky.why do it.if one goes down you have another.if there was one reason to trade ricky in my opinion its because i dont like how ronnie barely got the ball near the last few games.i love watching ronnie run and i love ricky running in a fins uni:)

I love watching Ronnie run but I love watching Ricky run even more. I can't believe there's talks of trading Ricky...the guy is awesome and I enjoy seeing him run more than any RB.

you guys are losing sight of the big issue... THE FUTURE. the way to improve other areas, is to get them via trading ricky...

also, Ricky had to come back this year, cause he owed 8.6 million.. his heart isnt really into it anymore.. his second season in miami he ran scared. i'd be surprised if ricky was in the league longer then 3 more years. trade him while his stock is high.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the 8.6 million judgement if he does get traded.

Wowza.

IMO, Ricky will only be dealt in a package deal so that his value in the trade can't be easily fixed... paying too much for a "flake" would get a GM in trouble... and getting too little would get Saban in trouble (as much as he cares, anyway).

Personally, I believe there is some personal honor involved here that we don't know about.

I THINK that Saban got Ricky back here, at the minimum, with a mutual understanding that if Ricky was a good citizen and a team player, the team would take care of him.

By that I mean, he won't have to play for the current contract all the way through it... and if an opportunity came to trade him where he could make market value, the team would act in good faith.

You have to understand the difference in perspective between now and last offseason... at that point everybody and their brother was ready to write off Ricky for NOTHING.

Nick, being smart, sees an opportunity to make that NOTHING SOMETHING. If he can get Ricky back, in shape and running well, he helps the team in the short run, and gives us something back in the long run.

Just my opinion, but I think Nick's thinking has been along those lines.

I'm all for keeping Ricky, but Saban would be foolish to not entertain trade that allow us to get a first day pick. RB was drafted to be the franchise back, and he's got a year under his belt where he didn't have to bear the full load. I think Saban is ready and confident to give RB 25 carries a game.

Ronnie was injuried his first year. I would feel better having ricky and ronnie carry the load. Also, I think Ricky is a better pure back than ronnie. when he was coming out of college i thought he was the best natural pure RB ever, and i still think that.

ronnie wasn't really injured.... he held out for a while, so he was out of shape.. and the last few games we were just showcasing Ricky to entertain trades.

RICKY IS A BETTER PURE BACK THEN RONNIE?! what kind of funks are you blazing and where can i get it? Ricky is not half of the receiver ronnie is. ronnie is a better blocker. ricky does not have the power he used to. Ronnie most definitely does. and ricky fumbles....

best natural pure rb ever? and you still think it? what is going on here?
