After watching Geno Smith go up the middle at will in the last game I could careless if either of them are back!

I think you are under estimating the importance of keeping at least one of these DTs.
Losing both wouldn't do our defense any justice.
Starks is solid, I would bring him back for Grimes type of deal and then draft Easley and ease him in

I think you are underestimating the talent that is on the market at DT. Play the market. The only places I was willing to overpay was for Grimes and LT. The rest...play the market.

Pretty obvious statement there.

Of course 8-10mil signs a LT. That's ONE of our MANY needs. Letting both DTs go to replace them with cheaper, younger options in FA...(hmmm sound familiar ----->let's revisit our LB changes last season...how'd that work out?)

You guys claim to want to win NOW...so sure let's just plug in options and have our run defense suck even harder ---assuming we roll out with the same LBs as last year. Then what? you'll hear everyone saying we need a DT next year.

Simple. Just try to retain one.

You have to consider how easy it is to replace a player. There are multiple effective, cheaper options in both free agency and the draft for answers at DT. The same can't be said for LT. The comparison the LB moves last year is apt, but you didn't know then that the incoming LB play would be such a drop off. The theory was sound, just like it's sound now.

Thank you! There was so much of that from both Starks and Solai last season it was embarrassing. I've watched a few other teams DT running down plays, hustling and on occassion being the last guy to make that critical tackle to prevent a score or a huge play. If they play wasn't coming DIRECTLY at them, Oh well they were more than happy to watch.

Give me young and eager to make plays type of player any-day. Thats how you develop a very good defense! One where every single player feels like HE has to make the tackle even if the play is 10 yards away. I friggin want extremely territorial players that challenge everything: You gained a 1 yard through the air? He feels it was his fault even if he the DT position. You gained 1 yard on the ground? He feels its his fault even if he plays the nickel position.

Too many of these guys are far too comfortable with the idea that this play and that play was not my responsibility.
