It appears that Ray Farmer will be the Dolphins new General Manager. Ray Farmer??? If not Farmer, the job will go to Brian Gaine, or Dennis Hickey. I mean are any one of these exciting hires to anyone on here? I realize that not every time the best hire is a big name. But Farmer doesn't have the college scouting experience to be successful, and is only getting hired because of Carl Peterson. Nepotism never works out. This is depressing. All these candidates suck. I guess this is life as a Dolphins fan. Please, if anyone here has any reason to be excited for Farmer let me know. I have none.

Ray Farmer deserves the benefit of the doubt. He is qualified IMO and has potential. I could listen to him talk football all day. Plus, I bet there is a chance of an effective looking FO with him in charge. I have mentioned Bill Kuharich many times.

I would promote gain under the circumstances, but I would be a supporter of Farmer if selected.

Totally disagree. Farmer is up and coming. Most GMs depend on their talent evaluators and scouts. If you think Hickey is the man, be prepared to want Ireland back. The Bucs didn't even TALK to him about their opening. He's that bad. Farmer will be fine

There's nothing exciting about any GM pick.

No where ever has anyone been all happy about a GM pick. Usually when a team hires a new GM it's a failed ex GM or a unknown up and comer.

At,east when farmer speaks he knows what he's talking about.

Not that I know if Farmer is the GM or if he becomes the GM he will succeed. But I do like his good reputation in the league. I do like that he is a former player. I do like his seems to be a team player and if he can keep the trinity united that's a plus. Like some have said none of us know how anyone will do until they are given a chance ... not even the proven ones.

I just don't see how you can hire a GM without extensive experience scouting college talent. And Hickey is the worst choice of the 3. I don't like any of the candidates at all, but if I had a gun to my head I would pick Gaine.

Farmer would be a good choice and I prefer and up and comer with new ideas compared to old GMs like Pioli and Polian.

I saw someone make a good point about Farmer, he has never been fired. He just keeps getting promotions, the guy is ready to make the jump to being a GM.

Because it doesn't take a special scientific equation to scout talent. It's not some gift that only a select handful of people can do.

I prefer a GM with College Scouting Experience. A lot of it.

There is some truth to that. But scouting an NFL player in an NFL setting and projecting how a College Player will be in the NFL are totally different. Night and Day.

When I was in high school I played on the same defense as Carlos Dunlap and Robert Quinn. We went up against AJ Green once a year.

I knew then those 3 were going to be studs. I wasn't even a grown man then. Like I said, it doesn't take a special brain cell to scout a football player.

I'm in agreement with you. Talent is talent. That is a given. But projecting how college talent will do in the NFL is a crapshoot just like projecting high school players to college is. I would prefer a GM that has extensive experience scouting and projecting college players into the NFL.

here's another video from the browns, talking with Farmer at Senior Bowl. It's regarding qbs and what he looks for...
