Ray Farmer new Dolphins GM?

Also, understand this is from Mando, but...

NFL source tells me neither Omar Khan nor Lake Dawson made the cut as finalists for the #Dolphins GM job.

..no mention of Xanders not making the cut. JLC has been wrong on about everything during this offseason, so maybe there's a chance Xanders is still in the running

I think Farmer has been in the bag a long time, that's why they've been dragging their feet. They're not worried about him going anywhere, and they wanted to look around a little to see if anything else popped up. They were looking at the playoff teams.

At this point, they should just announce he's it. This stuff about finalists is garbage. And they're going to need to give Farmer a lot of help with running the draft.

95% chance they hire Farmer

It just says xanders not for Gm. Doesn't mean he can't be something else for this organization

Farmer bangs out a draft everyone loves around here, people will be giving standing O's in their man caves.

There are rumors the Dolphins want to hire both Farmer and Xanders.

Could a mod maybe make more clear that this thread is speculation?

They may recruit 2 of the 3 and making them GM and Assistant GM/ Director Player Personnel. It seems that they each have different areas of expertise.
It could be Gaine/Farmer, Farmer/Gaine, Gaine/Hickey, etc. Because Gaine has been Ireland's right hand guy, he is familiar with the players, coaches, scouts, etc. So we would be very reluctant to lose him. If having gone close but then beaten for the GM position, it could be likely that Gaine could be inclined to look elsewhere. It may be that Farmer or Hickey represent his replacement.
I'm just speculating, but while many on here dismiss Hickey because he wasn't considered in Tampa Bay. It could be that the Bucs were looking for someone who could actually negotiate with the Agents and we have that base covered with Dawn Aponte. As has been reported previously in here, Hickey's strength is in the analytics - ie he is experienced in assessing the horseflesh. That may be precisely what we need from either the GM or the Assistant GM. If he is quiet and analytical, Dawn and Joe may like his style and at the end of the day you need all three on the same page working together.

I will judge the new GM by his actions. All of the speculation and rumors mean nothing.

I prefer a tongueless nymphomaniac blonde gymnast that trains 6 days a week Unfortunately, we don't get what we want.

Lock up Farmer and move forward. don't really trust Gaine (sorry hayden)
I haven't stopped laughing at this reply nor the gif!

According to this article, Farmer does have college scouting experience.

This is John Wooten describing Farmer's qualifications to be a GM:

Wooten said Farmer is ready for the next step. He called Farmer’s talent evaluation skills “excellent” and lauded his people skills.
“That’s why we put him in Cleveland last year,” Wooten said in a telephone interview Thursday. “He’d done the college, he’d done the pro. We wanted him in a situation where he could learn the nuances of office administration, how you communicate with the league, all of that.

His supposed lack of college experience was my only major concern with hiring him. Sounds like he has been groomed for a GM position for quite a while now. I liked Lichter, but would be OK with Farmer.

While not sexy, Farmer appears to be a good choice. However there are some indications through media Miami doesn't know what it is doing (national media). Gaine is his own man and is probably as respected as any of the 3 in the league at large. I don't care about sexy. I want results. I want intelligence and skill put into action.
