Read this. Why the Miami Dolphins had to go in the direction that they did.

About 2 weeks ago we had a thread around here about an Albert Breer article where Ross said he felt like the Dolphins were a QB away from the superbowl.

Somebody probably needs to make up their mind...

Ross is an owner, plain and simple and know nothing about football. Let him sign the checks and talk out of his ass.

This is not just ireland and aponte.

This is a DECADE-LONG problem wih the overall philosophy and makeup of the team. This franchise is Stuck On Stupid with the IDIOTIC idea that OL are more valuable than QB's, WR's and RB's and they pay accordingly.

OL are a dime a dozen and can be found anywhere. Good coaching and technique make them special.

Mediocrity at the skill positions is unforgivable and ALWAYS shows in the W-L record.

There is no "coaching up" a QB, he either has "IT" or he doesn't. If he is inaccurate and has no sense of timing, he is nothing.

Funny how other teams know this but we refuse to learn or acknowledge it.

It has IMO become an ego thing. ireland is determined to make "his way" work, even if it CAN'T.

I don't think they have ignored runningback....spending a boatload on Ricky Williams, spending a 1st rounder on Ronnie Brown, Moving up for Daniel Thomas.....Now quarterback...they have definately made major mistakes there and undervalued the position.

She put the Clowns in cap hell, but the worst was in the sorry time the owns had no real front office while they were courting Holmgrem she about ran Cribbs out of town! She continued to over step her bounds when Holmgrem got their made so Cribbs wouldn't even talk to them. Got her fired!

He's already got all that under control...

A winning organization starts at the very top. Clumsy, inefficient, losing organizations also start at the top. Ross has to be part of the solution in order for Miami to win.

That's a long ways off right now.

Joe Robbie fired flipper because he thought he was too gimmicky and distractive. He was hell bent on building a winner and went out and hired two of the best football minds out there in Bobby Beathard and Don Shula. Right now Ross is just the opposite of that.

I think Parcells left because he saw the rebuilding coming with Henne. Their first pick of Long in their first year was a good value pick as a sure thing; however not taking a chance on Ryan cost this organization in the long run and we have 3 losing seasons in a row.

On fact that QB is more important to take a chance on if you dont have one. You have to take the chances until you get one. Thats the problem I have with the value chart.

I believe we heading in the right direction. It seems like Philbin is knocking some sense into Ireland by forcing us to build through the draft and rounding off the team with low profile free agents.

The painting is on the wall people! We are rebuilding from ground zero! New style offense, new style defense. We are dropping the old over priced veterans, swallowing our lumps as far as the dead cap space (instead of restructuring and essentially creating more potential dead cap space in the future) and building from the draft. It's gonna be rough, yeah we'll prolly suffer a 2-14 to 5-11 year but every Dynasty (not saying we'll be a Dynasty. but just saying) started from the bottom of the barrel (Cowboys in the 90's... Patriots in the early 2000's) on their way up. We're gonna build this team through the draft and use FA to fill certain holes, but before we do that, we need to pay the piper for past mistakes, mistakes everybody is screaming we do now by trying to sign guys like Winston, Wimbley etc and keeping dead weight like B. Marshall.

but I guess it's just easy to blame Ireland, that seems to be the latest trend, no matter what the subject is, it's "Ireland's fault"... it's becoming a little redundant.

So Ireland gets a clean slate for putting us in this problem?

Redundant? To the contrary, Jeff Ireland has never been held accountable for anything yet. He damn sure isn't going to hold himself accountable.

It makes no sense that some of you want this imbecile shielded from criticism when he's done absolutely nothing for you to deserve it except build you a losing football team.

All of you that insist he had nothing to do with anything are the first one's groveling at his feet for pulling off another 'genius' move everytime Dan Carpenter makes a field goal.

But all that sh*t is fixing to stop. People are tired of the buck being passed.... he's being held accountable now just like Sparano, Parcells, Cam Cameron, Randy Mueller, Nick Saban, Rick Speilman, Wannstedt, Jimmy Johnson, Wayne Huizenga, and even Shula was towards the end.

Ireland will face the music just like they did. He wants all of the credit but none of the blame... it doesn't look as if the inner circles of the league, former players, the fanbase, or former Dolphin legends from the past are going to allow that to happen anymore.

So Ireland gets a clean slate for putting us in this problem?

Not making excuses for Ireland, but he was handcuffed by the Tuna for a few years before he took over. He also had to deal with a fist pumping head coach who couldn't manage a clock or eveluate talent if his life depended on it. His interm coach did a better job at doing that...

outside of trading up for D. Thomas, I would say Ireland had a pretty good first solo draft.

Kind of makes me feel good we are going to lose 13 mill in dead money next year to free up cap for our own players to get resigned

Funny how Tara and Tedslim focused only on the Ireland part of my post and nothing else.

Redundant? absolutly! 95% of this site hates Ireland, I get it, no need to bring it up EVERY chance you get regardless if it's relevant or not. It's like a nagging girlfreind who brings up that one time you checked her sisters ass out every chance she gets even a decade after the fact. it is what it is, kill yourself or get over it!
