Really sad and deeply disappointing (yet another blown season)

Ross could fix a lot of stuff just by hiring a new GM from the outside and let the new GM pick his HC. The biggest problem with Ross has been that he's never cleaned house. Always done it halfway ....fire the HC but kept the GM.....then fired the GM but kept the HC and on and on.....he must go outside of the building to get a new GM/HC
Of course things could be a LOT BETTER with Ross still remaining as owner. That's a legit possibility. My problem is this... I think the franchise is perceived as fundamentally dysfunctional with HIM as the owner. I mean let's be real -- the dude has made an absolute FOOL of himself numerous times and his "executive decisions" have proven to be certified failures. So WHO is lining up to jump in the clown show? Maybe that's not a problem, but maybe it is. I'm just unsure who would want to take the job...

well, I get what you’re saying and ideally he'd be gone but he's not. As far as who'd want the job, a lot of people would want it. Ross does pays well and keep in mind there are only 32 jobs in the world as GM of an NFL team.

It is tough being a Dolphin fan these past years. I go back to the 70's as a fan. Every year I hope that this could be the year we turn things around. But obviously it isn't so. I too think we need a GM. I can't specify why, but it all seems to go back to him. As for McDaniel, I like him, but I think most of you are right. He is a little over his head. IF we get a new GM (which I doubt), we should allow him to pick the coach. Will it still be McDaniel, who knows. I used to go into every year picking the games for Miami. There were always games I knew Miami would win, then a few games that they should lose, that they would surprisingly win and finally the they always lost one game to a team they should have beaten. Now on to today, it seems that Miami can't seem to beat the teams we should, and they never seem to beat the teams that we should lose to. I don't know how they can change this. I just hope they can before my days are up.

I think McDaniel will get another HC opportunity and it will come off a team's attempt to build a Dan Campbell like culture that failed and they want to go in a new direction

Will it work? Eh, probably not.
Don’t think so. Him and Campbell are two opposites as can be. One played professionally and one did not. That doesn’t mean a HC who never played pro ball can’t be a winner. But McD is too soft and wants to be friends with everyone, he’s concentrating on being too quirky and funny with his peers. He does not pay any attention to detail.
Campbell on the other hand is an actual tough guy who’s been in the foxhole with players. That doesn’t mean Campbell won’t at some point meet failure, but he seems to have his pulse on detail and what makes the team better overall. He also has coordinators and knows his time is best managing the overall product. Hence you can harken back to my earlier comment about McD being a narcissist. I really believe that

No doubt. There would be plenty of applicants. Of course (re the 32 jobs) BUT that doesn't mean we get someone who belongs in the top 16, let alone the top 5. Won't be a problem getting a Grier replacement. Getting a top shelf talent is another matter. IMO.

Maybe. It's two different styles. I think McDaniel can X and O with anyone in football, but if the execution is lacking, that could very well be a motivational thing. Campbell scores 10 out of 10 on motivation, but proves time and time again he might not be the smartest in the room.

If a team can find a happy medium, they will strike gold.

I'd look at Detroit, KC,Baltimore when looking for a new GM

I'd love to see Grier and McDaniel get booted out of Miami and get hired by Buffalo. :chuckle:

well I have been reviewing the first 25 years of dolphins football in a anniversary booklet / Here is what a have observed we seem to squeak by the mid tier teams and get blown out by the really good teams so this isnt new to us . this goes way back and the real problem guys is this we haven been a great offensive team since 1990 when we wen 13- 5 and we havent won more then 11 games since Shula left. oh we have some darn good players but why cant we score more then 27 points ? and why cant we get some our offensive players into the NFL HOF ? what I am noticing is defense has not been a major problem since Jimmy Johnson
i really wish for Miami to put another rb into the NFL HOF but it would really make me happy is to sometime soon to be able to put a couple more wide receivers and oinemen into the HOF AND getting A HOF tight end as well . all this means its past time for us to get great offense on the field soon so we can help the defense out. these are my observation . this needs to change.

After 24 years we are used to it.. but at one time we were king of the hill
