1. Gets rid of Morlon Greenwood- I just dont get this. Saban says I want young fast defensive players so he doesnt resign Morlon who is young and fast not to mention became a team leader last year
2. Doesnt re-sign Knight or Freeman, now this would be ok if in there places he brought in youg Players w/ an upside but Tebucky Jones cant hold a finger to Knight or Freeman. Travers Tillman (or w/e his name is) shouldnt even be a starter
3. Drafts Matt Roth who could help in the future but we need to adress our immediate needs like a S or G.
4. He talks about getting younger but all he has done is get older players to replace are younger better players
1.) Morlon Greenwood was in NO WAY worth the money the Texans paid him for us to keep. He was just an average player at best, it would've been a bad financial move for us to have overpaid him just to keep him. Spragan is a young smart player, but best of all he comes cheap. We tried to keep Greenwood to keep him which was a good move try to keep him, but the better move was letting him go and allowing the Texans to overpay more than he's worth.
2.) I was hoping we'd resign Knight and I'm glad Freeman was gone because he wasn't worth the $$$ (we have cap problems, why overpay an average player?) And as for Knight... guy in his early 30's compared to guys in their 20's... Saban didn't resign him for money and because he wants youth which he has Tillman and we might end up getting a S in the draft perhaps Shazor. So by not re-signing Knight he saves money and does the exact opposite of what you say in #4.
3.) Matt Roth wasn't a pick of immediate need he was a pick of a value, a steal if you have it. A guy projected to go somewhere in the late first, we pick up in 2nd... Not bad if I might say, also DE along with CB's so happens to be one of the most important positions on D. It all starts with the DE's and Roth could very well be our starter this year. If he does start, I'd expect him to have close to double figure sacks opposite of JT. A great pick though Khalif Barnes also would have been in my honest opinion.
4.) He got rid of Jay Fiedler (33), Sammy Knight 29), and Rob Konrad (28). Two old players... Junior Seau and Tim Bowens, possibly their last seasons. BOTH took pay cuts, hell TimBo took the Vet minimum. Donnie Spragan, Mario Edwards, Stockar McDougle, Travares Tillman, Damien Cook, Vonnie Holliday (YES, believe it of not) are all under the age of 30.
All the things you mentioned about Greenwood, Knight/Freeman, Roth, and old/young... You don't have to agree with it. But I would have some better arguement if I was you. Everything I just stated is mostly my opinion, everyone feel free to agree or disagree if you want.
