reasons why Jeff Ireland sucks

$2 million for Colombo?Ireland should be made to pay for his contract out of his own pocket.

I can't wait for the end of Ireland.

You should be an editor for the herald. Wish they had the balls to use your title. It's the most accurate.

Using PFF's bull**** rankings are a waste of time. But the article does highlight some far superior options we could have pursued. I can't believe Colombo is making 2 mil. That is shocking. I don't think my mind can wrap itself around the idea that he's getting paid at all.

This guy has no business being a GM. He was in charge of college scouting at Dallas and the last two off seasons reflect just how inept he is. I'm afraid that Ireland will survive unscathed if/when Ross or Peterson make changes.

i think at this point i would take matt millen over ireland, at least he took chances with playmakers that were in college, too bad only one panned out charles johnson, eventually you are going to hit on someone

Not surprising at all. Ireland seems to be a political creature as well, getting up Ross' *** and ingratiating himself with him. He will more than likely survive and we are doomed to more mediocrity. If he is given the chance to pick the next coach, you can bet dollars to donuts that it will be someone with a Dallas Cowboys connection. Who are the Dallas OC and DC ? Look there for the next Dolphins HC. That is who it will be.

Each of the Trifecta in reality took 1, 2, or 3 steps up above and beyond their last responsibility level, were clearly in over their heads, and just didn't rise to their respective challenges.

That's why I want either an experienced GM and/or HC instead of trying another Cam, Saban, Sparano, Ireland, etc. It's true an argument can be made for 1st time partnerships like Mark Dominik/Raheem Morris or Thomas Dimitroff/Mike Smith. Sure I'd love a Sean Payton or Mike McCarthy, and certainly we had bad experience with already HC Wanny (although on the basis of ruining the Bears, he never should have gotten the job), but considering the karma of this franchise we'll end up with another Cam, Saban or Sparano type bozo.

Give me Cowher and let him name either the experienced, or ready-to-take-the-next-step GM of his choice that he's most comfortable partnering with.

I'd bet Ireland selected those players based on comfort and coach-ability. That explains the Columbo fiasco but the rest of that crap moves are a head scratches.

This was definitely the problem.

And the main culprit was Parcells, who should've insulated himself against that possibility by hiring a GM and head coach with a track record.

Of course Parcells is likely too grandiose for that.

It's not even like it took some genius to identify the guys who would produce. Three quarters of the posters here wanted the players who have done well, and cringed when we got Colombo and others. I have to say I did not mind the Reggie Bush move, but the coaches have no clue how to use him (again, it's really not that complicated). Fire Ireland and make Finheaven the new GM. We just vote on who to sign/cut and the majority wins out. I joke of course, but I guarantee we would have a more talented roster right now if we got to make decisions over Ireland.

A ton of hind-sight being used here, but everyone around Finheaven called the Colombo/Carey debacle at the time

imo, it's easy to read a stat sheet and say "we shoulda got that guy". I guess I missed all the clamoring for Cadillac Williams and Antwan Barnes this Summer

Parcells ego wouldn't have allowed that. His plan was to build the foundation and mentor Ireland, and then let Ireland take over and just sit back and bask in the glory of his creation, and have everyone around the NFL praise him.

He saw his mistakes by the training camp of year 3, and decided to take a hike before too much of it was blamed on him.

A real coward if you ask me.
