What a difference a year makes. Coming off a 10-6 playoff run in Adam Gase's first season, things looked awfully good for Miami. But, now after a 6-10 season where are the Dolphins?

The team is obviously not at the Patriots level, but the return of Ryan Tannehill could be big. On paper, if Miami can improve dramatically at linebacker and on the offensive line you'd think a playoff run is possible. That says more of a reboot.

But, then there's the situation with Jarvis Landry and the fact that the best players on defense are all 30 plus. Miami could certainly cut bait with Ndamukong Suh after the 2018 season leaving a big hole in the middle of the defense. Landry won't be easy to replace either, maybe meaning another high draft pick could go for a wide receiver.

We are hearing a lot of rumors that the Dolphins could look quarterback in round one of the draft and, although this is the season for rumors, that decision will say a lot about how the front office views the club.

Thoughts?

In today's football, you can "rebuild" in a season. No matter what in 2018, Miami is a 5-8 win team. There are too many holes that need two years to address. They also have to gain flexibility with the cap and that will be next year too. Miami does have several pieces to build off of. Even if cuts are made to the line, Miami can be very competitive next year. It is important for them to think strategically vs short term

There's zero chance we need a full rebuild. Look what the Rams did last year. We're better than our record has shown in a lot of that has to do with the quarterback being injured. I'm not saying our front office can do it but it can be done in my opinion

We have a lot of young players so in a sense we've already rebuilt. We just need to add a few more pieces.
Stills
Parker
Grant
Drake
Tunsil
Howard
Tank
TJM
Lippett
RM
Harris
and even Quinn now who's only 27

The nucleus is there. You need some veterans to lead the way so it's ok to have some players over 30 like Suh and Jones and Tanehill

Just draft well and we can get there

Ozzy rules!!

Even though we've probably should have gone "full rebuild" at least once since 2004, we never really have, and have just done more "reboots" than Hollywood has done lately.

It's mired us in mediocrity, and although I've long been a proponent of said "full rebuild" with a guy like Gase, it's unlikely to happen, especially with this Front Office likely jockeying for their jobs. I expect we'll see more "reboots" in the future, or more "rebuilding" on the fly, yet never fully committing to a full rebuild.

If I wanted to follow any model, I'd do what Seattle did when Pete Carroll took over, and completely turn the roster over. However, he had some great FO guys to work with (the magic has dwindled a bit the last few years), and I don't know that I'd trust our FO to do the same. But...in a perfect world, that's what I'd do, and that's what my vote was for. Otherwise, we're just playing this giant game of "whack a mole" every year.

It seems to me that since Gase got here, we have been rebuilding.

You can do both at the same time of you land a QB in round 1.

I don't see it. A full "rebuild" would mean completely cleaning house, taking everything "down to the studs" and building back up, a renovation of the team of sorts (I watch too much HGTV)

We're just doing a reboot...and besides, we made the playoffs his first season, so it's not like it's been a terrible go of things since he's been here.
