not really. if you call a white guy white it is atleast an accurate statement.

but calling an indian an indian is insulting because hes not from india. its just something we named them by mistake and since we dont really care about them, never bothered to change.

People need to stop trying to classify themselves as anything more than a person(other than saying I am male/female). Everyone is different in oen way or another, that is obvious. Some people have similiarites while some have differences, whether it be physical, social, mental. Just because what may be good for one individual may not be good for another. Just because someone finds one thing offensive does not mean most other people do. We are all unique, but that does not mean we should all recieve preferential treatment because of it.

I mean find it offensive that large men do not have to wear tops or cover up thier breasts in public, while women do, but you don't see me making a federal case out of it. We're all created equal after all, why should women be treated differently. Free the boobies I say!!

When did the right 'not to be offended' get added to our Bill of Rights? I think that mistaken belief is one of our biggest problems right now. And to make it even worse people keep telling everybody else what the should be offended about. Remember when the NCAA tried to get the Seminoles to change their name b/c it was offensive to the Seminole indians? The Seminole nation put out a press release saying that "no, it wasn't offensive". The response from the proponents was that they (the Seminoles) should be offended but they just didn't know any better and that they would continue to fight on their behalf.

i think thats a great idea. but i have seen some girls that should NOT go topless. :shakeno:

i would be all for a law that said it was legal for a girl to go topless under 2 conditions:

1) she weighs between 90 and 130 lbs.
2) she is between the ages of 18 and 29.

Excellent amendments. I'm am with you on this. Might I suggest we make specialists at the DMV who work the 30-40 year olds on a case by case basis, because sometimes there are like 35 year olds who are still smokin.

I think it's silly that a lot of the groups go after any team that choses any Indian mascot.

Having said that, I do feel the Redskin name can be deemed offensive because it's referencing a slang name of a group of people. Because of that I do think the Redskins would be making a good decision to change to something that isn't negative like Indians or Braves.

Teams that have names like the Seminoles, Indians or Braves should'nt be offensive because a team is honoring these groups as strong people by choosing them as Mascots.

On the flip side, if the Redskins did change their name, you can bet that unfortunately some groups would use it as a stepping stone to increase the racism angle and force other teams to give up even respectful Indian mascot names.

There is never and end to these issues and someone is always looking to use them for publicity and political or financial gain.

Not sure if you read it, but someone posted how the team was origonally called the Boston braves, and then they changed thier name when they moved to the Redskins in honor of thier current coaches mother. SO they were already honoring someone by calling the team the Redskins.

The only way it can be considered "fine" is if every single Native American was "fine" with it. I think it is patently offensive BUT I'm not Native Canadian or American so my opinion on the topic means NOTHING.

But think about it. What if L.A. got an expansion team and they called themselves the L.A. Blackies? What if that same team had a smiling African-American with a big afro, a shiny gold tooth and a piece of fried chicken in his hand? How offensive would that be? The "Redskins" is no different in my opinion.

Having your team named after ANY minority group is offensive in every way. I don't give a rats *** about "tradition" either. Many of the so called "traditions" celebrated all over the World have been proven to be absurd in the past and this is no different.

The Redskins should be applauded by everyone if they changed the name...it will NEVER happen though.

i guess i really couldnt say because i'm not native american, but i dont think it'd bother me if they had a team called "the ellicott city crackers"... i'd think it was kinda funny. or "the warsaw pollocks"
