Reggie Bush ... Why did we sign him?

I think he could be a good compliment to Thomas. Will the coaching staff give him an opportunity to make good on it? Probably not

We should use him in our passing game like we did in the Pats game.

Put both Bush and Thomas out there in a 2 rb set. Then we can attack via pass or run.

I like what I'm seeing out of Thomas he runs with power and hits the hole hard. No dancing and hesitation at all.

I don't know what to say about Bush, I think his best days were left behind him at USC..........and the fins have yet found a spot that suits him in this offense. One must be crazy to make Bush "their featured back" as the ability in the NFL to run between the tackles or burn pass the front 7 as he once did at USC. If im correct I think he has a two year contract with the fins.....and thats for a reason, he has 1 year to really prove himself or he could hit the door!

Exactly. That's why it's not worth even making an uproar about Bush.

Thomas has gotten the ball at least 70/30 the last two games, the only two he's been active for. What's the problem here?

I do agree with the people who say that we should be using him as a slot receiver. Once Bush realizes the feature back talk was just coach speak, perhaps he'll be very open to it just to get on the field more.

So you think Sparano saying he wants 70/30 in favor of Bush is just coach speak? That sounds to me like a coach who doesn't have a clue.

Bottom line, the Saints wanted desperately to get rid of Reggie Bush. His salary was way above his production. He was injury-prone. He couldn't produce running in an offense where guys like Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory and Mike Bell were able to produce. In other words, the Saints were looking for a team to take a mistake off of their hands, and the Dolphins stepped in gladly like the fools they are.

We should all be thankful that it looks like genius Ireland only signed him for two years. We won't be as fortunate as the Saints were in finding a dupe to take him off of our hands.

Then that's just your preconceptions of the situation shaping your opinion. Almost anyone in the NFL will say that the veteran is the starter or his guy, because it's much better to keep the veteran happy and have the rookie working than a complacent rookie and a disgruntled veteran. Did you know that Jamaal Charles, despite being one of the best backs in the league last year, was still officially their number 2? Oh, and they won a division title last year.

I can understand why we signed Bush, he can make some plays for us, but I cant understand why we gave up a pick for him when it was well know that he was going to be cut.

It wasn't a bad trade at all. Bush is worth a couple of big plays a game. The right side of the line SUCKS!!!!

It's as if they blocked for DT and didn't for bush. I agree, sometimes he goes laterally too much but used CORRECTLY, he can be pretty effective.

This entire Front Office SUCKS!!!!!! The personnel moves over the last 15 years REGARDLESS of who was making the call have SUCKED!!!!

Brees? Hasselback? Rivers???? Nah, let's get DANTE!!!!!

i dont believe anyone thought he would bring something to this team as a runner, but more as a receiver out of the backfield. unfortunately, he has not brought that element of his game here either.

When Reggie Bush first came here I was naive and actually believed he could could be a feature back for this offense, or at least see 50-70% of the touches. Sparano even came out and said that he would be the feature back, and that he can carry the load.

The last two weeks, not only has Reggie been non existent in the running game, but more alarming in the passing game. Bush can be consistently effective in this offense is as a receiver, or as a third down specialist. (Similar to Darien Sproles) But we are not even using him that way. It seems evident that NO knew the proper way to use Reggie, and our wise coach just can not figure it out.

So why did we sign him? If he is not the feature back, and he is not being used as a receiver scat back, what are we doing with him??? Did we just sign him for his celebrity status, and twitter followers?

Reggie probably thought this would reignite his career, but the reality is it could be his worse season under this staff.

Just my 2 cents.
imo we used him exactly how you suspose to use him in preseason and then went away from it because of poor coaching .if a coach cant take a player and see where he should be used most ,and thats coming out of the bk field slinging passes to him and let him out run the LBs . hmmm guess sparano forgot that.

Yeah, that's just my "preconceptions of the situation". What are you high? Jamaal Charles was one of the best running backs last year, please tell me you just didn't compare him to Reggie Bush. Bush should have never been slated to receive 70% of the carries on any roster. Only Sparano and his idiot homers would think it was a good idea.

Let's just put the cards on the table here. You think it was a good idea to feature Bush as the #1 back. It's okay, you can admit you're wrong. Most of the other homers have stepped up to the plate already.
