Reggie Bush

It's true that he's not an every down back, but they could at least use him right. Sparano refuses to use logic and continues to run Reggie up the middle.

Well, today they started to use he and Clay out wide. But after the scripted plays ended, with their backup QB in, they went bland and predictable and that meant taking the only RB they were comfortable with, Reggie, and running him up the gut, mixed in with pass plays using our usual suspects.

Truthfully though, my biggest problem with seeing the way Bush runs is even when he gets space or gets out in the open, he takes 5 seconds to turn upfield. His current running could only be effective as a punt returner, where sometimes you only have to beat 1-2 gunners to get going to a relatively clear upfield. He works at taking guys out of their shoes when there are always 4-5 defenders right on his heels ready to tackle him. It's pathetic.

If we used him as a slot wr/scat back he would be fine.

between the tackles he is crap. he dances and his jukes take way to long. The best rb's make ppl miss with very subtle moves while going north/south

But he pulls this going lateral crap even when he is receiving. So he's taking 5-7 yard passes, and often just letting himself get tackled dancing instead of turning upfield.

It's hard to tell his true value/potential with this current regime. I think he is retained and a new regime can use him successfully. Trust me ... he'd be having a great year in NE.

Reggie Bush is WAY down the list of things that are wrong with this team right now. He's one of the few guys out there putting in much effort and making plays.

As I said in my original post, I think overall team and game speed would make it a lot harder for Sanders to do what he did.

I disagree. Modern NFL defenses are built to stop the passing game. Barry Sanders would do even better in today's NFL. He is the most talented RB I've ever seen.

Keep in mind that Barry Sanders did great on a horrible Detroit team. If he were on the current Detroit Lions team - with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson - they would be unstoppable.

I don't watch enough of Chris Johnson to see how he gets his ridiculous yardage

Barry Sanders and Chris Johnson are totally different. Barry Sanders had good speed (4.4) and incredible cutting & tackle breaking ability. Chris Johnson is mainly a speed guy (4.2).

Reggie Bush doesn't have Barry Sander's cutting & tackle breaking ability. And he doesn't have Chris Johnson's top end speed. It would be better to compare Reggie Bush with a prime Warrick Dunn.

Bill Bellichek would also threaten to shoot something that Reggie loved for every time he ran sideways. Chad Henne had the buzzer in practice that went off after three seconds...maybe we need a shotgun sound pumped in for every time Reggie runs the wrong direction.

Reggie Bush was an issue today because too many times when we needed him to get a couple yards and set us up for not as long situations in the passing game, he didn't even get past the line of scrimmage because he was trying to dance. His actual rushing numbers don't look that bad, but it was the inconsistency that limited what we could do, which made us rely on a passing game which wasn't going to be able to handle the load of throwing every down.

I know what you are saying about him being the only one to come and play, he's a lot lower on my crap list than most of the team, but I saw people hate on Ronnie for years for dancing, but when Reggie does it instead of getting positive yardage, it gets blamed on the coaching staff.

I don't know. Reggie looked pretty good on a handful of runs. I still am baffled why he is so underutilized by the Dolphins. No-one is saying he is is "Great" but if the patriots can figure ways to make guys like Woodhead look dangerous you would think getting Reggie involved would be simple.

Sproles would have been a way better pick up. I was pretty pissed we went with Bush over Sproles, but I wanted to give Bush the benefit of the doubt. He's a good player but not the complimentary back we need. He's a utility player than can make guys miss. We went for name not production.

Get used to that with Ross as our owner

This is not surprising to me at all. And I recognize that there are probably quite a few people that aren't surprised by this. But at the same time, I think there were quite a few people that insisted that Reggie Bush was a great addition to the team.

He's under-utilized because of exactly what I said in my last post. He doesn't hit holes consistently, and when you just need him to take what's there and get 3-4 yards, he cuts behind the line of scrimmage and gets 1. Bush had a couple longer runs today where he followed his blocks, but he still averaged less than 4 ypc because of all the plays where he let himself get nothing.

When you are behind in the game with your backup QB, you won't get the rock if you are as likely to dance and get caught behind the line as you are to get positive yardage.

Only way it could've been a good addition was if they knew how to use him.. which they don't.

However, I see about 6 guys on offense that give consistent effort week in and week out, down after down.... and Reggie Bush is one of 'em.

People can make observations without their having to be the main reason for what's wrong with the team.

Somehow our coaches think they know more than the superbowl winning coaches of the the Saints. Hey Payton, you were using Reggie wrong, he is an every down back, just watch, NOT !!!
