Reggie Bush's real cost

I think his aquisitions away from the draft have been pretty damn good.

For every Marc Columbo, there is:

Devonne Bess
Cam Wake
Marshall
Reggie Bush
Karlos Dansby.

I think that Clay and Pouncey might really be his best draft picks to date...unless I am forgetting somebody???

Vontae (since I think Jake was mostly RancidTuna's)

This is why you haven't seen me crush Ireland on the boards.

Too many people just want to point fingers. Who's "fault" is it really?

To me, Ireland was in the shadow of Bill Parcells the whole time Parcells was here. Parcells was the head shot-caller IMO.

Then you have people complaining about what an awful coach Tony Sparano is...and I agree with that.

So if Parcells is the dude calling the shots, and Tony Sparano is an awful coach who can't develop college talent at the next level, then what exactly is Ireland responsible for?

The picks that Ireland has made that we KNOW are HIS picks and HIS picks alone...seem to be pretty solid.

Agreed. All the bowl cloggers (Pasqualoni, Henning, BP, & the meatball) have been flushed away.

Ireland IMO has not been stellar but neither does he deserve to be lumped in w/ the others.

Gotta do it two years in a row, and he can't start out slowly again. If he does, I don't care how well he picks up in the second half, I'll still consider him to be a bust. Reminds me too much of Adam LaRoche, who could never find his groove until the Pirates were WAY out of contention, until he finally couldn't and was mercifully shipped out of town.

A little payback for Rickey? To the naysayers: You have to give him credit.

Wait!

What????

You're calling Reggie Bush a bust for us? Are you serious????? Once again, he cost us exactly:

1-Special Teams player (That was and UDFA)
20 spots in the 6th round...and he was a 1000 yard back on a dysfunctional offense, under a 1st year coordinator, a turnstyle at RT and a backup QB, AND the entire unit had no PreSeason to gel.

What exactly should we expect from a 6th round pick????

Well wth that logic we can only attribute the last draft to him so the jury is quite still out

You have to say it was a great deal but we basically got lucky because NO was going to cut Bush. They basically made the trade to get something for a guy instead of cutting him. Basically it was like our trade of Ted Ginn. It was good for both parties Bush played his best ever as a runningback and NO actually got much better play out of Sproles than they ever got out of Bush

In retrospect it turned out to be a very good deal and Bush exceeded almost everyone's expectations.

he exceeded all expectations nobody predicted this kind of success and for good reason up to this point he was a bust in relation to being second overall pick

Oh without question. I'm just saying that this is the reason why I haven't killed Ireland like so many here have. I just think that Ireland has kinda been the odd-man-out in Miami as far as personnel decisions are concerned.

I dont agree I think he was quite on board and helped to advise on these decisions but we will never know.

Right, I forgot about Amaya..and while I hated to see him go, aren't you just a little premature in your assesment??? He racked up 15 tackles last season....all on special teams.

Oh, and there is not an H in his name. It is actually Jonathon Amaya....who was and UDFA..which means we gave up an UDFA special teamer and 20? spots in the 6th round for a 1000 yard back, and probably the best back we have had in????? 3 decades?

Damn, if Ireland can turn that deal once a year, we are gonna be DAMN good in no time
Whoa slow down there! Bush is nowhere near the back Ricky was (pre-retirement)

Yeah, sorry. A slight oversight on my part.

He's the best back we have had in decades NOT named Ricky.

Ricky is one of the 10 best RB's I have ever watched play the game, and that list includes Sweetness, Dickerson, Brown, Campbell, Orenthal and of course Sanders...
