Reggie Bush's real cost

Right, I forgot about Amaya..and while I hated to see him go, aren't you just a little premature in your assesment??? He racked up 15 tackles last season....all on special teams.

Oh, and there is not an H in his name. It is actually Jonathon Amaya....who was and UDFA..which means we gave up an UDFA special teamer and 20? spots in the 6th round for a 1000 yard back, and probably the best back we have had in????? 3 decades?

Damn, if Ireland can turn that deal once a year, we are gonna be DAMN good in no time

oh the irony.. :chuckle:

Well I think the Bush pick up was a damn good move but I am not going to give a grade on an incomplete body of work. Bush had need to prove he wasn't the wasted pick that NO invested in him but one decent year does not a back make.

If Bush builds off the season he had in 2011 then I will be willing to give him that endorsement but right now he is no more or less of a back than Ronnie Brown was to Miami.

I honestly think we need to resign Reggie. 3 years, 15-18M should do the trick.

I also think Reggie got a fire lit under his ***.

He all of a sudden realized that he was.....Well....Expendable.
That has to be a shock to a guy.

I love that he responded....Now lets see what happens.

Might want to check the stats.

I agree with you about the one season, but there is no stat that I found (Skimming the major ones) where RB isn't better that Ronnie. Now, you can
factor in blocking, which Ronnie was really good at....But....Yeah..Bush kinda beats him hands down...Compareing Ronnies best season with MIA and Bushes

Saddest thing about Ronnie, it was injuries that constantly cost him becoming something really spectacular IMHO.
He didn't have break away speed, and he sometimes danced too much, but if you got him 1 on 1 against a small Linebacker or ANY defensive back, he would completely TRUCK their a$$.

Anybody remember IBM (Back when he was still with Sandy Eggo) duck out of the way of Ronnie at about the 5 yard line..... classic.

never was that impressed with ronnie basically a bad second pick but good solid player

Wait!

What????

You're calling Reggie Bush a bust for us? Are you serious????? Once again, he cost us exactly:

1-Special Teams player (That was and UDFA)
20 spots in the 6th round...and he was a 1000 yard back on a dysfunctional offense, under a 1st year coordinator, a turnstyle at RT and a backup QB, AND the entire unit had no PreSeason to gel.

What exactly should we expect from a 6th round pick????

MOORE is no back-up QB. Deal with it! He was rated the 12th best QB in the League. By higher mathematics, he was rated better than 20 starting NFL QBs, and not better than 11. (THAT is no back-up. MIAMI was what sucked...not MOORE) All this even though he had to labor w/the same crapola that BUSH did: (1) no preseason to develop some timing/"chemistry"; (2) the COLUMBO/CAREY fiasco (for want of a better word); and (3) SPARANO, and the lingering stench of PARCELLSBALL. Beyond that, I pretty much agree w/you...but...

TOM BRADY was a 6th Round Pick. The Draft was different in 1955, but JOHN UNITAS was also = a 6th Round Pick.

Oh without question. I'm just saying that this is the reason why I haven't killed Ireland like so many here have. I just think that Ireland has kinda been the odd-man-out in Miami as far as personnel decisions are concerned.

I agree he needs another season to really judge his work as GM. Like I have always said about Bill Parcels he is good at building a house foundation and making the tough decisions but he sucks as a finish carpenter. Bill hindered Jeff and realistically the decisions made last season should have been made a year prior but Bill wouldn't allow it because of his dip**** pride.

Jeff was solid last season and let's see how he does with one more under his belt with him calling the shots. So far I have nothing to bang on Jeff about, other than his ability to kiss tremendous Ross ***.

The jury is still out on Ireland, we only know for sure what he did on his own ... FA did NOT plug holes, except for Reggie ... & Draft was uber conservative. Bottom Line team was about the same @ 6-10.

My BIG Question .... who's idea to ditch Sparano for Harbaugh?? If it came from Ireland whispering in Ross' ear ... I'll give Ireland some big cred!! If Ross' idea ... oy veh!!

I'm giving Ireland a chance ... should become clear this year or next. Rationalization doesn't cut it though ... & I see alot of that ... .500-ish mediocrity & no long-term QB is a FAIL, PERIOD!!

For what it's worth, I love Matt Moore (No ****). I would actually be okay, if Philbin thinks he's "The Guy", and we go that route and spend our money and picks somewhere else.

It's easy to drop Tammy Buttchin' and Johnny U's names... but until Matt Moore does something, he's not in that conversation....could he be someday? Perhaps. I personally saw quite a bit of upside, even in games where he struggled (The Gints. I have it recorded, and that kid did some REALLY good things against a murderous pass rush. Things most QB's couldnt do)....but once again, until he proves it, he is still just another guy in a jersey.

You have to give credit where it's due... this was a great trade.
