Report: Fins Escort Former GM Finalist From The Building

Sounds fairly standard. In such a high position you must move quickly when transfering power. As dumb as it sounds, can't run the risk of Gaine tampering with documents, etc.

I see it all the time at my company, around 5 PM Friday, HR walks around, walks up to desk.... pack your stuff you have 5 minutes to collect your belongings, you must step away from your computer and hand over access badge. Out the door and never return.

Crazy the amount of information a USB stick can contain.

OP's Threat Title makes it seem as if cops had been called in or something.

Not sure what the big deal is. This is typical of any organization. Well, the way he found out, if true, is not trypical, but being escorted out of the premises is certainly typical.

Coming from the corporate world and once losing my job, it is policy that you be escorted out of the building on your final day. Badges, company property etc...are surrendered and then you are asked to leave via escort. If you leave and are in good standing, usually the protocol is the crew who escorted you meet you at the closest bar thereafter and buy the beers for the night since you are now unemployed. Many times the people being escorted do not find out until the day they lose their jobs.

At least that is how it worked for me and I'd bet it works the exact same way for the people trying to spin this story into something out of the norm for the corporate world. If Brain Gaines didn't know Hickey was going to be GM and he wanted to move on, why was it reported two days ago that he wanted to move on since there was no advancement opportunity left within the Dolphins?

Things that make you go hummmmm..........

The companies I have worked for do it Friday AM. The VP will call someone into their office, along with the HR rep, and tell them the news. During that time all access to the building and networks is suspended. Then the employee goes back to their desk and gathers their things and then is escorted out. Pretty typical in the corporate world

Can't say for sure if it was ugly, or not.

Seeing how Gaine had access to important info, it sounds pretty standard.
Being in IT, I've been asked multiple times to turn off a user's access when the meeting started where an employee was being let go.
Not necessarily because the employee couldn't be trusted, but it was standard, depending on what they had access to.

I find this hard to believe because there were reports that if Gaine didnt get the job he wanted out before the GM was named. As well any job you are fired from you get escorted out due to security reasons more so standard then anything.

This guy had access to valuable and private information, you don't want him walking out with anything

See this is where I call BS.

The escorting him out of the building thing I get. However, the idea he is going to sabotage something or take things out of the building....... he couldve already done that if he wished to. This GM search took so long, if he had diabolical plans in case he didnt get the job, he couldve already taken information off the computers days before.

The thing that bothers me is the total lack of respect on how the man was informed. Call him into the office and inform him of the Hickey hire before it is released to the media. They had to know at that point they werent keeping Gaine on the staff. He shouldve been told when the decision was made to hire Gaine and escorted out at that point.

Yup, said that before. He knew for at least three days that he was not going to be retained. He could have done the damage then.

Now it's possible that they told him he was going to be staying on until after the draft and then surprised him -- corporations love to do this stuff on people who give their two weeks or something -- but really, come on.

While it is protocol, it still sucks to be treated like a threat to the very same people you were working for. I know. I have been escorted out before and had my belongings inspected. Its not fun, its embarrassing and it is not always necessary.

This seems to be a standard business practice if you ask me. You relieve someone of their duties and for security and safety reasons you escort them out of the building with their belongings. I wouldn't read too much into this to be honest.

Depending if they trusted him, they might not have been worried of him destroying anything, but more concerned with him taking info with him.
You wouldn't really want him to bring our notes to the pats! :)
However, if he was smart, he probably all ready has any important contact info, notes, etc, that he really needed.
