Report: Shanahan Wanted Tannehill, Not RGIII

BS, not in the face of probable sack. Usually he tucks and takes the sack, he needed to learn to throw the ball away, hes had opportuniyies all season to throw it away in the face of pressure and hasnt. Its progress to see him not take the sack.

Okay, serious question, do you know what the intentional grounding rule is? And why on earth would he try to wind up and throw in a collapsing pocket? Do you want him to fumble more? He's already thrown several interceptions because his arm got hit as he was throwing. He had a fumble during the Colts game for that very reason. And, here's another thing, do you actually want him to develop as a quarterback?

It's hilarious. You guys want him to just chuck the ball out of bounds every time he's in a bad pocket. He'd be completing 40% of his passes and turning the ball over more if he was running the offense that way.

I might be in the minority here, but I have very little concern about Tannehill's pocket presence or his ability to throw from a crowded pocket or his ability to throw on the run or his ability to make quick decisions. IMO, he needs more experience but he does not look overwhelmed by the situations he has been in.

It's not great, but it's not the disaster it's being painted as, that's for sure. Big problem right now is everyone wants to compare him to Andrew Luck, and Andrew Luck's pocket presence is just absolutely unreal. Go back and watch his very first NFL start. He was a master from day one.

doesn't hurt that he's basically been coached by his dad (a former NFL QB) from the time he was a kid on how to play the position

Tannehill is so damn bad that he has led this team to a 5-5 record. Whats funny is that 5-5 was what we thought we would be at this point. Tannehill has his problem areas. Hes not a top 15 qb. He does have 14 tds and 11 ints. He is on pace to have best qb play in 14 years. Yet, we say he sucks... Guy has no oline, no run game, and an offensive coordinator who doesnt see he is best on roll outs and quick lasses. Hes getting better and damn what i would give to have mike shanahan and his offense with tannehill running it.

Make the trade in the offseason. Enough said.

Shanahan here??? We'd be stuck with his son too...haven't we now learned our lesson about the pitfalls of nepotism?

Agreed. Cronyism & nepotism have plagued the Phins since 2000 and yet some want to continue along that same path. What did Einstein say about insanity?

Though, I do like how the Redskins are mixing in triple option, veer, & zone read in w/ the typical Shanahan Offense.

The timing of this article & Moss questioning RG3 are comical as they are 3-7.

I don't know where people come up with this crap. Apparently he's supposed to just intentionally ground the ball up the ****ing wazoo. Better than taking a sack even though it's the same result and begins forming a bad habit, right?

People make up stuff just to confirm their biases & faulty perception.

Its probably the same ones who *itch Espn's treatment of the phins which is highly ironic.

Trouble brewing in Washington

Leadership being questioned with the Redskins from RG III,Santana Moss, and Mike Shanahan.

RG III passing the blame on the teams lack of production,RG III loves the attention when the team is winning but passing the buck while they struggle.

Shanahan allowing Santana Moss to publicly calling RG III out saying he needs to take his share of the blame. No doubt RG III is in the wrong because he is a pretty big part of the problem, he has to chose his words more carefully with the media.

Everyone pointing fingers at each other out in the public where it should stay behind closed doors.:snack:

"On the flip side, he also points out that if Shanahan had drafted Tannehill, the coach would already be out of a job. Like the show on which Jones appears, Tannehill’s performance thus far with the Miami Dolphins has been “highly questionable.”"

Wow, yeah cuz RG3 has just been night and day a better QB than Tannehill! SMH

There's another thread kicking around about how unrattled Tannehill is - including his resiliency to bounce back from brain farts. Aside from the indications that the defenses are catching up with read option strength QBs like RG3 and Kaep, the sensory overload exposure he's getting, and his China Doll fragility, now that he's throwing his own players under the bus, it's just another reason why in hindsight, if the report is true, Shanahan was correct in preferring RT17. No matter what else anyone may think about stoic Ryan, it's hard to believe that he'd ever throw his own players under the bus.

Saying Highly questionable is highly exaggerating...
