Reported on NFL sunday countdown (Brees/Pennington)...

Why is everybody so in love with arm strength Brees has had pro bowl #'s 2 years in a row he is very accurate and he has a pretty good arm. Brees has been a top 5 qb and people still worry about him throwing 70 yards.

man, brees to miami as an UFA would be insane, make my day
If they are going to go with RIVERS and let BREES go they would still franchise him and at least get compensation for him. NO WAY they let BREES go for free....:dolphins:

I completely agree. People were spazzing for us to get a QB with great arm strength back when Jay "Noodle Arm" Feidler was our QB. We went out and got AJ and suddenly realized that arm strength isn't everything.

wasn't there rumor that marty might go but i guess he didnt after all so that might affect teh decision anyways as marty might go next year.

Exactly, Look at all the arm strength Gus has but is as inaccurate as they come. Brees can lob the ball down field and be accurate and he has excellent vision. The last thing we need is another bonehead throwing the ball way down the field because we want someone that can throw hard. I think everybody got use to Marino throwing the ball hard.

Like a few posters mentioned already the Chargers would NEVER let Brees go without some type of compensation. If by some miracle of God that he did become an unrestricted free agent there would be a bidding war between many teams (I would even hope that Buffalo would jump in the bidding war), especially if a draft pick doesn't need to be given up.

Brees is a good QB who is surronded by the BEST TE and RB in the league, yet still can't win. Choked a home playoff game away last year in Round 1. Then failed to make the playoffs at all this year.

Brees isn't terrible.....but I wouldn't build the offense around him and pay him big bucks.

you konw i was thinking taht but i think taht teams weakness is atittude possibly and their Secondary. I can't seem to figure out how a team taht is soo talented and has all the positions on offense close to being great and can't win it must be the Defense and atittude

It's not the defense!

The Jets are installing the Chargers offensive system? I cannot image the Jets running Cameron's Coryell system. I don't see how Brian Schotty could be able to do that, it takes alot of experience to learn that system, much less install it in onto another team.

what do you think it is? offense? i doubt it. attitude/mentality? possibly? defense possibly? can u come up with other stuff? i'm not sure. maybe coaching? sure. the coaching cost them the game vs miami and their stupid play calling and decision making almost like seatle in the superbowl before the end of the 1st half and 2nd half.

They have a QB who throws costly INT's at bad times

Thats defintely it, but it is not just Brees. The Chargers as a whole as incredible unclutch. They have alot of trouble win close or important games. The Chargers don't win many games where they don;t blow out their opponent. Brees tends to make mistakes at crucial points, he even did it in that game vs indie. Tomlinson either puts up incredible numbers or does nothing. Their offensive line isn't very good either. Attitude and coaching is the problem with the Chargers.

No, because a QB with better arm strength best fits this offense we run now. Ears had enough for what NT wanted. This system is different. Brees is a good QB, but not the best fit for us...

I just can't see Smith sabotaging the team over a p!ssing match w/ Schottenheimer.

I can.:sidelol:
As much as I like to make fun of Marty, Smith, with his mob-like looks and Buffalo training, strikes me as a guy who would do such a thing.
