Reports: Braylon Edwards our top pick???

You make some great points fintimtc but I'll be totally surprised if Braylon Edwards or Ronnie Brown are Dolphins at the end of the day. Not because I don't like them, but because Saban wants picks. If trade partners are available, we are trading down.

I'm all for trading down and getting more picks. This team is by no means one player away.I would not be upset to see us trade down 2-3 times and accumulate 3-4 more 1st day picks.Hopefully Nick will do a better job of utilizing those picks than Wanny and Rick ever did......

Williams will probably be there at #7. Best player in the draft IMO, but could slide as low at 17.

NO WAY Williams drops out of the top 10.

KB,I have been reading your stuff for years and value your opinion highly. While I don't disagree that Ronnie Brown makes the most sense for us at 1.02,I don't see it happening for a couple of reasons.

1)This is a very deep RB class even beyond the big three. If Brown was the only sure fire RB in the draft I would totally agree with your viewpoint here.

2)The Fins have a chance to put on the field now the best 1-2 combo at WR since the Mark's brothers days.

3)The short shelf life of a RB vs. that of a WR coupled with the deep RB class suggests to me it would be easier to get the top rated WR at 1.02 and then grab one of the 2nd tier RBs in the 2nd/3rd round.

While I don't have the background pedigree that you and Boomer have,I have been a draftnick for the past 15 years or so and think I'm a pretty good evaluator of talent. Now don't laugh, but being in FF Dynasty leagues the past 10 years has helped me alot. You have to be able to spot incoming talent at the offensive skill positions if you are to be succsessful in the hobby.I have been able to do a pretty good job at that thru the years.I can appreciate your sticking to your guns with the Ronnie Brown pick and like I said earlier can't dismiss your logic there,I just think Edwards would be the better pick at 1.02 considering our options and the overall talent of the incoming RB class.

Fire away all.....
I have to agree. However, I'd be ecstatic with either of them. Both are great players and automatic contributors.

Please trade. Anyone but Edwards. It's killing me. He is only good compared to the other recievers this year. I will be so crushed...

I agree, but I think there is one more reason. Edwards is probably rated higher than Brown on most draft boards. That gives Saban the flexibility to extend his trading window beyond 15 minutes. It wouldn't surprise me at all to have Miami draft Edwards (assuming Smith is gone) then trade him to Cleveland, Chicago or Minn. within the next hour or so.

I wouldnt say no way. If he gets past TB at #5 and Minnesota at #7, he could very well slip till #12.

I would be the happiest man on earth if we draft Edwards. He is an outstanding player plus I am a Michigan and dolphin fans so that has an impact. I understand WR might not be our biggest need but if he is the best available why not take him and draft a RB with our 2nd.

Because it forces you to draft based on need with that second pick. There isn't a gap at all between Edwards and Brown in terms of grades, so it isn't a given that Edwards is the BPA. You take Brown in the first, and this allows you to take someone that may slide into your lap in the second as opposed to absolutely having to take a running back.

If we take Edwards, then we have to ignore taking a guy like Corey Webster, who will be a great pick, in the second because we have to get Fason or Morency.

Fason and Morency aren't bad, but IMO we will trade the pick. And Webster would not be my 1st choice in the 2nd if guys like Blackstock,Thurman,Pool,Bullocks, and Bass are available

I really think Edwards is a smoke screen. A few days ago when we wanted to get Tampa to trade we were "supposedly" going to take Alex Smith. When SF started leaning that way and we lost our bargining power, we ALL OF A SUDDEN shifted to Edwards who had not been mentioned by anyone anywhere until this week. Why? To stimulate a trade with Minny. Miami wants to trade out of that spot so bad they can't stand it. But if they end up selecting there, put your money on Ronnie Brown.

That's a good call there. I agree....

RB R. Brown would be the smartest choice IMO. He's a stud, and we need a RB to take pressure off of the QB. I'd love to have Edwards, but we need a RB more this year, and these top RB's are in a superior class....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Hey KB. Are you going to do a full 7 round mock of Miamis picks?
