XTRA690 (SD station) that Archie Manning has come out and stated that Eli does not want to play in San Diego.

Also, the chargers FO seems divided on what to do with the top pick. GM Smith wants to drat Manning, while the coaching staff wants to trade back and grab Rivers.

Archie didnt happen to say that Eli would only play for the Dolphins, did he?

In all seriousness, do u think any of these guys that are incredible in college want to get drafted by some of these teams such as San Diego, Arizona, etc...

Who on earth would Manning be passing to in San Diego.

Good point.

But look at the rosey position Carson Palmer has got himself into at Cincy.

Plus, they will care about the losing, but what about the money, they can't really complain.

In all seriousness, they oughtta expect it. The sucky teams draft first. That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it's always gonna be. He should just feel lucky that he gets a chance to fulfil his dream of playing in the NFL. If he's as good as they say, he oughtta be able to turn that team around by himself. I really hate guys that whine about who they're gonna get picked by.

With all of the parity in the league, these players drafted by teams that went 4-12 the year before could end up playing in the playoffs in 1 or 2 years. There are teams like the Cardinals or the Bengals (although the Bengals look like they are on their way up) that are known for losing, but a lot of teams that are drafting in the top 5 now could be drafting in the bottom 5 in a few years. People don't want to play for a loser, but a lot of these teams drafting in the top 5 won't be drafting there for much longer.

The Chargers have done their fair share of losing the past few years, but they have been to the Super Bowl in the last 10 years, and they have some good players. If Manning played there, he would be playing alongside one of the best running backs in the league.

This is true.

A physician I work with is an Ole Miss alumnus. He's good friends with one of the highway patrol guys in this area. Last saturday, he went with the highway patrol guy to escort Archie Manning to some alumni fundraising function in Kosiusko, MS. Archie mentioned to those two that they had told San Diego that they do not want to play in San Diego. Their choice would be the New York Giants. They are urging San Diego to make the deal with New York.

Eli went to Ol Miss not a national champ...... ever? Not exactly a winning organization, not the worst but not MU either. I know Eli went there because of his father, but the Colts stunk when they drafted his brother, my point is if Eli is a leader like his brother it does not matter where Eli goes he should take control of the team and lead them into the future that is the sign of a great QB Eli shouldn't be worried with where he goes that kind of stuff I would expect from Ryan Leaf not Eli Manning.

If I were thinking of drafting Eli and I heard that from him a red flag would shoot up instantly. Really good football players "don't normally" worry themselves with what team, they just want to get on the field and play.If Eli went to SD he would be in almost the same position as his brother comming into the league and look at Peyton now top three QB's in the league.

Uh, how about John Elway?

Peyton has always had someone to throw to though, and a fairly decent Oline.

San Diego don't really have either.

A lot of QBs lick their chops at the thought of being a high pick even on a bad team so long as that team has a good coach and is turning it around because then you basically get the offense tailor-made for you to succeed. They install all the weapons around you and rely on you and make you the star. Go to a team with a bunch of good players already there, not as much pressure, but not as much glory either.

Ya know ,when I wrote that I knew someone was going to bring Elway into it, BTW, that is why I put "DON'T NORMALLY" in quotes, hoping everyone would figure that out, but obviously NOT....also one example is not compelling on your part. :shakeno:

I find it hard to believe that Archie would say something like that. Archie has admitted that he was not the type of Dad who made his sons practice passes. He would work with them but only if they asked according to the book by Archie and Peyton.
