Reshad Jones suspended 4 games.

A couple of questions.

Once you have taken the PED's how long does it stay in your system ?
If the answer is a long time why haven't the trainers or docs on the Fins staff pretested everyone at the beginning of the season to determine who may be at risk to fail an NFL test.

Probably because they don't want to know. What if they test them and find half the team tests positive? What is the punishment? And what if they know half of the players on every NFL team is juiced? If you aren't juicing right along with them just to stay even you lose, and if you lose you get fired. If your players get caught by the league, you lose. If you suspend them yourself, you lose. Its really an impossible situation for the coach that if he sticks his nose into will likely end badly regardless of his intentions.

We're already on the road towards 100% of players juicing 100% of the time, one guy with good intentions will just be a speed bump at this point. Something drastic needs to be done right now to turn this car around.

I just don't like that everybody is put in the same category:

Player A that uses HGH or steriods.

Player B that uses something that can be a masking agent for steriods, but a lot of people take for other reasons.

Player C that uses an over the counter supplement that has a ingredient that is legal but it on the league's banned list.

To me these are three very different situations, but due to rules the NFL will only say a player violated the league's policy, they won't say how it was violated.

And here's the big issue: You've got players like Jordan and Jones willing to risk a significant amount of money to increase their chances at an even bigger payday. What do you think players like Fede or Hoskins would be willing to risk just for one chance at a life changing contract?

i would have cut reshad jones the second i heard the news. not because of the suspension but because Jordan just got busted for the same damn thing and Jones is what a 4 year starter now, playing on a big contract and was flat out terrible last season. He's supposed to be a leader in the seconadry and a leader on defense in general, he doesnt give a 2 ****s about this team. He was probably close with ireland the guy who gave him a shot and thats it. hickey and philbin??? he could care less. Sure he played well and earned that contract but what he has shown since, i dont want that kind of player on my team.

In my opinion they all are in same category because these players have access to hwat is on banned list and they know what they are taking. Its not like half the damn league or even a high percentage come up failing tests. If the mistakes were that honest there would be much moe positive tests.
The players that get caught will never admit I took a steroid because of how that makes them look.

I just feel taking a steroid and taking benadryl for hay fever are two different things.

I feel they are too but what Im saying is I doubt that is the case. Anyone thinking that Jordan just took the wrong supplement is fooling themselves.
I think people are being naïve if they think that its just happening by accident

i guess you are right. Again how long does in stay in your bloodstream ? Could it be leftover from college or did they just start recently ?
In Jordan's case he's been in rehab and with the trainer probably every day addressing his shoulder. You would think there were signs like rapid weight gain that would tip them off. I'm completely ignorant on this subject ... obviously :idk:

Absolutely he is.

It's true that Ireland was a big burden to cope with. I just don't see Philbin bringing anything to table. It's a reach to say one less win though with a playoff appearance by Carroll is being outperformed by Philbin particularly since the Seahawks talent was incredibly inexperienced as it's been gathered during his tenure. That team experienced a much more thorough rebuild. I'm fine blaming Ireland for the talent deficiencies and the questionable characters he brought in, but Philbin hasn't exactly distinguished himself by keeping those scrubs in line.

Mogwai - I think that you significantly underestimate Joe Philbin. Don't just write him off because of the dour, boring TV persona which is incredibly dour and very boring. I see his strength is in his organizational skills. He is smart, structured and well prepared. He likes his players disciplined and clearly understanding their responsibilities. He is a teacher and he expects the same from his position coaches. The development of some players like Tannehill, Clay, Odrick, Vernon, Koa Misi even Jimmy Wilson is what Joe is all about - progressive talent development. I expect a number of other players to add to that list this year. He excelled at the Offensive talent development in Green Bay, where players (eg Aaron Rodgers, Jordie Nelson, James Jones, O-line) spent a lot of time waiting for their chances and then excelling.
Last year's implosion on the O-line was probably anathema to everything Joe stood for. He trusted Mike Sherman who trusted Jim Turner who trusted Richie Incognito as leader. Net effect - they were out of control and he didn't know it until the magnitude of the J-mart issues came out. It was a total disaster and he has a great chance to learn from it. Against the odds, the team was still pretty competitive in 13 of the 16 games until the wheels came off in Buffalo. Improvement in the O-line could have a significant impact on the team's performance.
While it may be nice to have a colorful personality as a Head Coach like Rex Ryan or a major prick like Tom Coughlin or Jim Harbaugh, a well organized coach can still be very successful. Do not underestimate the significance of replacing Ireland with Hickey. He now has a GM who will try to get him the players he needs. Ireland's ego was probably out of control with the reckless 2013 Draft and Free Agent additions like Wheeler and Ellerbe. Let's see what Philbin can do with some more talented players on the roster and a more creative Offensive Coordinator to help him.

D maybe you know the answer. How long will you continue testing positive after you've stopped using a PED ?
Weeks , months , forever ?

Do you honestly think that's the case with what is happening

That's why I wish the league would just same what happened and leave the guess work out of the equation. There's likely some cases where it was an honest mistake. I can easily seeing a player taking Alka Seltser for an upset stomach and not to gain what ever advantage the NFL feels it gives a player.
