Resign Keller?

Go after Jimmy Graham if he isn't franchised or signed by New Orleans. Pay him the big bucks.

No way Graham gets out of New Orleans.

Likely franchised.

Although, Drew Brees is killing that team. His cap numbers are beyond ridiculous....$18, $22, $24 etc..... He's worth the money, but if he plans on winning another Super Bowl, he needs to restrucutre his deal and take a home town discount so the Saints can bring in better players.

We missed on that opportunity once (right JCane?), we'll likely never get it again.

No.
I hate it for the guy.

Perhaps a one year vet minimum deal as a sign of good faith(by the dolphins), but people at his age don't necessarily recover from that injury.
He quite possibly not playing next year or at least the first half.
So you are essentially giving him a contract for the right to sign him in 2 years at the age of 32 following a catastrophic injury.

It is just bad business.

Give him a one year vet minimum deal, PUP him, see how his rehab goes. He's an excellent complement to Clay, IMO.

I think we have to try to bring him back. Look how well Grimes has worked out for us, imagine Keller and Clay spreading up the field for Miller and the WRs. Cant hurt.

With Clay making huge strides this year as a receiving TE, and Egnew coming on as blocking TE, does Miami resign Keller? He will be 30 next year and coming off a lost season due to injury. I think he would make a great addition with Clay, but I am unsure of what his salary demands would be. He was guaranteed 3.25 million this year.

:ponder:

Definitely re-sign him. One year deal similar to this year to see if he can come back healthy. If he gets hurt again then fine. I'd draft a TE too just in case.

Dennis Pitta is also going to be a free agent, I think. He'd be a great weapon for RT.

I dont even think he will be able to play next season. That was a nasty injury. Id rather see us try to develop Egnew and see what he can do as a 2nd TE. And we just spent another pick on Sims.. We have 3 Te's going into next season under contract, i dont think Keller is coming back. I can see the Jets taking a chance on him .

He'll probably need two years to recover, like Willis Mcgahee did after tearing everything in his knee. And even then, he may never be back 100%.

sadly true… with that imo we don't hold the roster spot, and draft a middle of the field monster (Ebron, Benjamin)

If he comes back and is ready to go then sign him again to a 1 or 2 year team friendly deal.

again guys, he pretty much tore everything there is to tear in that knee. He may not even be able to play again

I'm curious about this, the same thing happened to McGahee the difference being that McGahee was younger, BUT the technology now is light years ahead of what it was just 7-8 years ago....

IMO it will depend on how the staff feels about Sims' progress. Clay is becoming a weapon along the lines of Shannon Sharpe. What I mean by that is Clay has Sharpe's build and speed and comes from a small college. Clay can do some great things if he continues to grow. And the staff may allow Clay to continue to fill that role if Sims progresses as a blocker and a check down target for RT. We could be seeing Clay, Sims, and Egnew for a while. Saying all that I would rather draft Eric Ebron and pair him with Clay but I doubt we will use our 1st round pick on any position other than OL.

If the price is right, why not, the guy is a major talent that could add another dimension to the red-zone offense. If he asks for too much, let him move on.
