This will give them even more fuel to want to spoil our day.
Hayden - Face it, you love the rah rah motivational coaches who love publicity. Every week you state how Joe fails to inspire you. Even the games that result in good wins were achieved in spite of Joe's coaching. The funny thing is that we actually have a highly organized, analytical coach who's also a good judge of football talent and the players appear to enjoy playing for.
We agree to disagree on this one. Rex is great on Defense but appears to be one dimensional in that he delegates the Offense and when they fail it's never his fault. Some of us think that we have a good man coaching the Dolphins and make no mistake he will be back next year. Leave the rah rah to Rex and let's see where the Jets are this time next year. Feel free to chargrill me if I'm wrong and get set for a good win tomorrow.
Joe Philbin has had way too many slow starts, lousy halftime adjustments and the inability to have his team "play above their ability". He has stubborn on too many things such as moving Mike Wallace around, sticking with Lamar Miller and the run game...even when it is no working are two examples...and how they could not block a CB blitz last week was inexcusable? That was not execution...it was coaching. Finally, I think he is rigid with his players. It is not a coincidence that Bush and Dansby are gone. That is not on Ireland. It is a Joe move. Joe Philbin has done well with keeping the team together through the Martin situation. However, the more I think about it, it is not his leadership that is getting the positive result. It is his management style. He has managed the crisis well, but as for a leader in front of the team...he leaves a lot to be desired.
Players will die on the field for Rex. That will never happen to Joe. Let's see what team plays harder, looser and better tomorrow.
They don't have to play for Rex's job anymore
Geno Smith's career is dying before it even starts. So you're sorta right there.
Rex has done a great job. He has no playmakers on offense and a crappy mistake prone rookie QB and if he wins Sunday he'll have the same amount of wins as Philbin. We should NOT be happy he's staying in NY.
if rex was a driving force behind them going with mark buttfumble in 2012 again then yeah he should have been fired after tomorrow...
Am I the only one who thinks that 'having nothing to play for' is a load of crap?
These guys all want to continue to eat. They want to continue to be pro football players. Does anyone really think that these guys are just going to take the game off? They only get 16 opportunities to put out a resume in a field where they can lose their job on any given day.
if you ask me though...rex should be fired...tannebaum bit the bullet the oc then bit the bullet the hc should bite the bullet now...i would fire him if i was the jets...hell of a dc though...plenty of guys though meant to be coordinators in this league i think rex is among em
Rex has done a good job this year.
