Ricky coming back for the $$$$

i havent heard him say he wants to come back. only his agent who will say anything to get a deal done.

He can't say he wants to come back. He's entered himself into the NFL drug program. That there says he wants to come back.

I hate to say it, but I think Ricky may have the Fins by the big ones right now. The way it looks right now, this may be headed to arbitration...There are some that say he's entitled to the money stipulated in his contract and others that say he isn't. If Ricky wins an arbitration hearing, the Fins will most likely have to release him because of the cap ramifications. If that happens, he's free to play wherever he wants...the Fins get nothing. If he loses, the Fins would only have to pay him the minimum...but in that case, he may just hold out or decide not to come back. The Fins could try to recoupe that money that he owes them, but that would just make Ricky file for bankruptcy, wiping out that debt, plus, most likely, voiding the contract. Either way, Ricky could wind up walking, playing somewhere else, and the Fins would never see a dime of the 8.6 mil.

Personally, I don't see this getting resolved anytime soon as his agent isn't going to let him play for the minimum and the Fins can't afford to pay him the 3+ mil that his contract says he is to be payed.

lets see how much love for the game there would be if salaries were capped off at 500k

I'd play for that price.

Ok, I don't understand how Ricky could possibly be able to earn more than the veteran's minimum...I thought we were giving him a chance because he defaulted his contract and if he plays for us this season we can forget about the 8.6 million he owes us..But now, not only he wants to come back weighing 200 pounds, but also he wants a multi-million dollar contract.

In my opinion, his heart is not into football, he is in for the money...Remember he has 8.6 million reasons to come back...

Any opinions out there?

Did you think he was coming back for the love of the game? He doesn't love football and he is just coming back to collect a check. If I was a dolphin fan(thankfully I'm not :D ) I would not want this guy back under any circumstances.

of course hes comming back for the money. not the new money he will be paid, but to erase what he is said to owe. he stopped playing football becuase he didnt want to do it anymore. thats why he retired. he tried to retire with the saints, but they were smart enough to trade him for 2 1st rounders.

most players who retire are allowed to go, the fins in there anger and blame said FU** ricky, we will take all his money back. knowing he doesnt have it. they only want him back so they dont loose a very talented asset.

I have yet see a team go "Oh you retire just before training camp, oh well you can keep your salary bonus." The Phins were in the norm in the situation that was presented to them.

i will wait and see if he shows up for practice. and if does show, will he perform like he did? i dout it. every carry i bet hes thinking, "i dont want to be here. damn team is screwing me. i gave them several great seasons).

what if the coaches dont think he can play like befor? will you cut him? and let me go? or will you say, "HEY, you suck, i still want my 8 mil??"

if he comes back, and you cut him, that might be the last time hes on a football field. and wont owe teh team anything.

which goes back to my question. where do the fins expect this thing to go??

I absolutely want him to come back. He had 1 great year and other than that he was average, he isn't regaining his '02 form and he'll be a detriment in the locker room so I absolutely want him to come back.
