First post for me, long time fin fan from RI. Ricky wasn't happy with the offensive gameplan while he was here. Can you blame him? Run twice, throw him a swing pass, then punt or get a 1st and do it over again. Here is where I'll speculate as to what I think happened. Instead of trashing Wannstedt and the rest of the coaching staff, he retired. He retired because he was unhappy about the fact he was getting killed every Sunday. Noboby was responsible for a larger percentage of their teams offense than Ricky was, so was it crazy for him to think he deserved more money. Face it folks, this is a result-driven industry, he's producing the most, deserves to get paid the most. Would you have rather he spoke out publicly against Wannstedt? What would have happened then? Like the rest of us, he was upset, like the rest of us, he wanted something to change. He couldn't speak up because he's not capable of doing it. I will welcome Ricky back and hope that he never publicly trashes Wannstedt, but I think he has every right to.

It's only fitting that you start off your posting in this "RickyHeaven" era with a thread about RW  . Just playing around man ... welcome. I agree with you and that's exactly why he's actually somewhat interested in coming back now. He no longer has to carry the load of the whole team on his shoulders with another top notch RB, if Ronnie Brown lives up to expectations, and a solid recieving core.

Welcome.

There is a lot more to it than that, but for sure, it had to suck taking the bangs while the team gets worse and worse. Coach Sucked and it had to be very frustrating. Might make you want to burn one ofter a long week of listening to that idiot pat him self on the back for brilliant coaching moves like putting "mouse trpas in lockers".

If RW played last year, chances are he would have gotten hurt, just like every single other running back that played.

Are we to even take into account the countless other reasons he gave for quitting or do we just stick with this one because it is easy and absolves him of any personal accountability?

As Ricky posts go yours wasn't bad.

Ricky did produce and only fumbled a few times. I remember him running for like 300+ yrds and 2TD in Buffilo in the snow. Feilder/Wanny lost that game.

Do we have to talk about them all at once every time.

Nah. Let's just stick with this easy one. Then I can justify supporting him even though he did something wrong. Don't confuse me with facts, I have my mind made up. It's called justification. I stole that XXXX because my I deserve it because I work my butt off for this company and they don't appreciate me. There have been plenty of times I have ked extra and not gotten any appreication. Besides, this is a HUGE company and they will never notice.

He wanted to find "the truth"
Fame and money were a prison
He lost his passion for football
He wanted to be free
He was embarassed for anyone to know he smoked dope
He was notified 3 days before he retired that he flunked his third dope test
He wanted to travel the world ...

I'm sure I'm leaving some out. You pick which one you want to believe.

Important thing Saban has turned around

In the months surrounding Ricky quitting, many others departed, or did not want to come here. Now, people want to stay, return and join this team. Hopefully the days of players taking less money elsewhere are over. You might resort to a big cone reefer to if you had to listen to that coaching staff bickering and making a joke out of the best team in football. Shame on the owner, but he has it right now.

We can maybe hope for 9-7 and a back door in the playoffs. who would have thought that 8 months ago.

I may actually go to the KC Maimi game with my KC friend now. We may have a chance!

What are some other reasons that we know of?

I can only go on the quotes from Ricky that I read after he quit.

1. Too much of a workload.
2. Want a new contract
3. Wrong person was promoted to OC.
4. Lost my passion for football
5. Failed a 4th drug test and faced suspension

That's all I can remember.

Ahhh... I forgot "new contract" and "wrong OC". Mine came from the 60 minute interview.

Where I work people leave all the time because they don't like where the company is headed and the decisions being made. Some come back and the good ones we let come back the bad ones well...

Big Bucks and Aqua, I think you've managed to get most of the ones I remember too.

Which ones do you truly believe? To me, most of them sound like cop outs.
