Ricky didn't like system

So, you work for the fun of it?
Most of us work so that we won't be broke, we have no choice either.
That's about the most normal thing about him.

Football is a game you can't just show up and go through the motions or you'll get killed. You need to have a passion and he lost that and now he's coming back JUST to collect a check. It's very different than "normal" peoiple who have regular jobs. Most people don't make millions so they can't take a year off and then crank it back up.

First post for me, long time fin fan from RI. Ricky wasn't happy with the offensive gameplan while he was here. Can you blame him? Run twice, throw him a swing pass, then punt or get a 1st and do it over again. Here is where I'll speculate as to what I think happened. Instead of trashing Wannstedt and the rest of the coaching staff, he retired. He retired because he was unhappy about the fact he was getting killed every Sunday. Noboby was responsible for a larger percentage of their teams offense than Ricky was, so was it crazy for him to think he deserved more money. Face it folks, this is a result-driven industry, he's producing the most, deserves to get paid the most. Would you have rather he spoke out publicly against Wannstedt? What would have happened then? Like the rest of us, he was upset, like the rest of us, he wanted something to change. He couldn't speak up because he's not capable of doing it. I will welcome Ricky back and hope that he never publicly trashes Wannstedt, but I think he has every right to.

good post and I completely agree. Welcome to the boards..

Ricky went to Collier to ask for a change in philosophy. He knew there was no success banging it up the gut 75% of the time. When the D has the corner 7/8/9yds off the ball Ricky needs to run through a 8/9 man front on every play. 1st dn was always up the gut. Try to pass, he asked.

Collier went to Wanny, Wanny said no, Collier went public. This was the first hint Ricky was losing his desire to play for Wanny. Next was when he hit a pile, he turned his back instead of driving ahead like the previous year and previous games. He was trying to save himself.

Yes he was wrong in what he did! Yes I was angry w/him! But I knew ther was going to be trouble, I told my fellow Sunday boys' that Ricky looked less driven and lackluster. I said he would be gone in a year or 2. Wanny was going to drive him in the ground trying to save his own job and love affair w/Fiedler.

They all said no way, Wanny will be gone this year. I admit I thought it to, yet deep down I felt like the hex would be back and Ricky would not. It still shocked me, why train so hard all offseason and quit at the last minute.

Seinberg said Tuesday on ESPN radio that Ricky would not be coming back if wanny were the coach. Ricky had differences in philosophies! That Ricky had a strong rapor(? spelling)w/ Saban and very much likes his plans.

That's a good point but, most regular people who don't like their job also do it to the best of their ability so that they can keep that job.

I'm sure Ricky understands that if he comes back to play, he'll have to give 100% on the field, or he will get hurt. As much as he talks about wanting to be able to walk when his playing days are over, I'm sure he'll do everything he can to avoid injuries, including playing his hardest while he's out there.

He's not going to just go through the motions. Ricky is a lot of things but, dumb isn't one of them.

Boo Rookie!

wait, I don't even have 20 posts...

Yea Rookie!

Ricky was great for us. I am not your average Ricky supporter but I want to see if he can at least contribute before I throw him into fire and brimstone!
