Ricky stood up and faced the fire!

Who cares if he wanted to quit his job. If you dont like your job and want to quit for any reason whatsoever.. thats your choice. he made his!
Sometimes being fans cloud peoples rationale.

Fine, fail drug tests, quit your job with no notice, badmouth your co-workers and supervisors, insist you did nothing wrong, then go back to the same company and ask for a job that pays over half a million dollars a year (at the minimum).
Let me know what they tell you (if the obscenity filters on this site will let you)

If you are going to say that somebody has 2 face's then you should probably post the 2 posts that show contradictory.
Yeah that would be nice.

It sure as hell isn't conservative, which is what it should be.

Not to turn this into a political thread, but an entirely conservative country would be fascist, and an entirely liberal country would be socialist/communist. This is a democracy.. The people dictate the way of the nation, and thus, moderation and balance is maintained.. This is a balanced nation, just as it should be.

I have a deep respect for this guy. ......

After today's press conference I am convinced beyond a doubt that Ricky is a truly good person. His ability to apologize for hurting others, his mature and descent handling of questions about his involvement with drugs, his response to questions that could be shaming and disparaging were beyond reproach.

It's called PR, a strategy to make people believe what you want them to believe about something and in your case it worked like a charm! It's also something Ricky HAD to do to come back and make his millions. IMO his press conf. and scripted answers shows little... if nothing at all into the person Ricky really is.

Man,you guys are killing me,one day you all are downing the man,the next yall are saying what a great personality he is,iam seeing people with two faces

I am not you guys - I am me - he's not me I am me. Two G's and and S...I digress...

I have never downed Ricky on this board so you might be mixing me up with another.

Someone actually *respects* Ricky? Wow. It doesn't take much for some people, I guess.

I heard the apology. It was half-hearted at best. "Some people think I was selfish"...come on. He still says he doesn't know why he is really here, and he didn't like the life and rules of an NFL player.

Yeah, he's a model of respect. I love what he has done for the credibility of the organization

I hate when people bring this Liberal/Conservative argument into things.
The funny thing is that even the staunchest Conservative has Liberal views on certain issues and the staunchest Liberal has Conservative views on some issues....... The way some of you fly your Cons/Lib flags is downright hilarious.

you should be president

This is the FIRST step in a LONG process of winning back the teamates and fans. He has to PERFORM on field and play with HEART.

Ya, but you have to remember, this isnt most jobs. And this is reciprocal.. If Ricky is using the team for money, the team is using him for production (and in a way you could say money as well, more talent = more wins = more money).. If Ricky were some ho-hum football player, the team wouldnt be taking him back. It just so happens the man was blessed with exceptional football ability, and a very disjointed mind, one in which rational decisions were not made.. So, if his employer was willing to take him back, after he apologized, I dont see what the problem is here..

Its not like he wont be able to do his job well..

The whole premise of my post is that the guy does not have a "disjointed" mind. To the contrary, Ricky is very bright and quite articulate. He was the smartest man in that room today when he was being interviewed. Those knuckle headed reporters are like blocks of wood when it comes to being able to relate and question him in descent fashion. There questions were stale and stylized and pre-formulated. That was my point, to highlight Ricky's deep sense of humanity and patients in dealing with people who were clearly trying to shame him and harm him and create juicy stories and the back of his painful difficulties. Ricky behaved like a real men in the face of very difficult circumstances.

Thank you for saying what I said in a much clearer, better way.

:rofl3:

I think you misinterpreted what I meant. I dont mean he has a "disjointed mind" as in he is an idiot.. I think he is very introspective, but that still doesnt mean that he thinks things out rationally.. Its obvious he didnt when he left.. He has serious issues with Social Anxiety which can force people to make irrational decisions.. It is clear that Ricky was attempting to "find himself." He wasnt happy with himself, his life, and he attempted to leave his reality.. What he found was, that this new "free" reality wasnt much of a reality at all.. Because reality is about responsibility. You cant live without it, even if you try not to have it, it will eventually catch up to you, as it did with Ricky. He now has a fuller understanding of what "freedom" is, and what it entails.

I agree with you to a point. He was well coached and well rehearsed before this press conference. Wise people probably adviced him to stear clear of the drug questions - nothing good can come from them. They probably pushed him to make a statement that included an apology, so he crafted the statement we heard today. And in a certain way it does not say who Ricky really is. That will story has yet to unfold, for even Ricky does not know yet. That is to say this is the moment that will define him for history in sports. But the fact that he received and listened to good council in this process is ALL to his credit and DOES speak to his character.
