Ricky stood up and faced the fire!

Fine, fail drug tests, quit your job with no notice, badmouth your co-workers and supervisors, insist you did nothing wrong, then go back to the same company and ask for a job that pays over half a million dollars a year (at the minimum).
Let me know what they tell you (if the obscenity filters on this site will let you)

hey man... the phins agreed to take him back.... they didnt have to. I honestly cant remember him badmouthing anyone. Im sure you'll tell me:rofl3:

The whole premise of my post is that the guy does not have a "disjointed" mind. To the contrary, Ricky is very bright and quite articulate..

Dosen't have a "disjointed" mind?
Wow I guess all the psychological counseling he has received and his clinical diagnosis of his social anxiety disorder are all bunk. Regardless of your opinion on his mental capacities, Ricky has supplied ample proof of his "disjointed" mind through his actions over the years.

I think what Skapephin was pointing out isn't Ricky's Intelligence level being "disjointed" but Ricky's ability to make rational decisions and his ability to handle real world social situations is "disjointed". There can't be any argument there. Ricky has shown through his own actions and he has admitted to having great problems there.
If you are still going to look at intelligence as a guage of whether someone can have mental problems or not consider below....

Many serial killers were considered to have "genious" intellect , but through their choices they obviously showed themselves to be quite "disjointed".

Well standing up to the press and obviously already talking to his teammates is the first steps. When he is on the field, playing and back to his old self, I'll get excited again...But the real question is how long will his "renewed" interest in football continue...Don't bet your paycheck on RW triumphant return just yet...IMHO....you might be in for another letdown...

Someone actually *respects* Ricky? Wow. It doesn't take much for some people, I guess.

I heard the apology. It was half-hearted at best. "Some people think I was selfish"...come on. He still says he doesn't know why he is really here, and he didn't like the life and rules of an NFL player.

Yeah, he's a model of respect. I love what he has done for the credibility of the organization

Thanks for attempting to bellitle me for having my opinion.

Ricky's apology was half-hearted. He is not apologizing to in the sense of gaining forgiveness to clear his soul so he can go to heaven. He is trying to win the PR battle. Fans like you are enraged at him and he must live in that culture so he is trying to soften the blow a bit for himself and fans alike.

As far as the organization goes I have addressed this repeatedly. Our organization and the NFL in general tends to have players who if they were not in the league would be in prison. Ricky is not one of those characters. We have a guy on the squad who served time for a gang rape, and others who have had altercations with the law (I'll try and stop picking on McMichael). Historically this is true as well - Cecil Collins and Irving Fryar and Bobby Humphreys and David Overstreet and a slew of others who either Shula or Jimmy Johnson were trying to give a second chance. I usually have no problem with that in a case by case situation especially if they turn their lives around and perform on the field. Then the coach is a genious.

People forget that Marino had a BIG FAT reputation as a coke head coming out of University of Pitt. That is rarely spoken of anymore, but it is mainly accepted if not confirmed as having once been true of him. SO WHAT! You have young men, idealized, idolized and made wealthy. Beautiful girls want to have sex with them all the time and they are given carte blanche at university campuses where they attend or in their city where they sign lucrative contracts.

The important question for any one of us in this world is how does one respond to adversity To me ricky took another impressive step in a series of steps that has earned my respect so put that in your pipe and smoke it

Regardless, if you quit, you quit. You don't come crawling back because there are 8 million dollars waiting for you to come back. Most jobs don't give you that option when you quit.
Most jobs don't have contractual obligations with legal ramifications attached. It's important to compare apples to apples. Ricky's situation is considerably more different than most, and I've yet to meet the perfect person who qualifies to throw stones at anyone. Give the guy a chance, I'm sure every HUMAN in the world has had more than a "second" chance.

It was minor thing to do with Seth McKinney. And of course his claim that he was being overworked which was directed at the coaching staff.

Personnally, I thought Ricky did a good job, seeing that he is very uncomfortable in front of people. Altohugh he did scare me when he answered the first question as I don't know for his reason coming back.

Does anyone know where I can find the Ricky Williams press conference in its entirety?

Can you start a thread with a link to it when you do see it thanks.

Did anyone see around the horn? Bill Plaschke said, "Ricky will be a huge distraction." Though followed that up and said "it's like not he's returning to the Patriots, a team that already has a system in place."

Yes, because we all know the all mighty New England Patriots can do no wrong! Basically, if he were returning to the Patsies, it would be a GREAT move, but it's Miami and every sports writer, loves to sh*t on them.

What a crock.

do you all forget all the interviews he has done before saying how he's not sorry at all, and it's not his fault that we didn't have a replacement. he's bs'ing us.
