I don't speak for anyone else, but I think Hayden believes Joe simply isn't a good coach.

I feel the same way. I would not be upset to see Joe fired, as I think he is doing a poor job as head coach, but I do not feel this whole incident is a reflection on him. I think that based on everything I know -- and Schefter is now confirming Joe was NEVER informed of this stuff -- Joe Philbin is caught in the crossfire and never stood a chance.

But, I think it's fair for fans to still want him fired for his COACHING.

I personally feel every coach deserves a chance to show how they handle adversity. If the 4 game losing streak and this fiasco isn't adversity I don't know what is. How Joe Philbin handles the team through this will tell you a lot about him as a coach.

Now truth be told, he's going to have to make some hard decisions on his staff if he keeps his job. In the past a guy like Tony Sparano couldn't make the tough decision unless he couldn't make an excuse anymore for the coach (Tony Bonomo as ST coach being the big guy). Hell he tried to talk Dan Henning into coming back as OC his final year here, but Henning said he felt it was best to move on. Also, while the Harbaugh saga was unfair to Sparano, he didn't exactly put his best foot forward to prove he deserved to remain head coach

I don't know. I'm not opposed to giving Joe more time, just as I wouldn't be opposed to cleaning house.

Yeah man, it's totally fair to fire a coach after a season and a half. Not even bad seasons at that. Year one 7-9 with a ton of special teams gaffes (thanks carpenter) with a rookie QB. This year we've beaten two SB contenders and are 4-4, still heavily in the thick of things.

Still though, lets fire him for his coaching. All while Tony ****ing Sparano got FOUR YEARS!!

There is ZERO logic to your argument. Just biased opinions. Stop calling for our HCs job half way through a season that were still very much apart of!

Just trying to read some of those conversations on Ricky's page, man people are some real jack-***es. You get a chance to discuss anything of your choosing with a controversial character, and all people can do is say "you smoked pot" like high school dropouts. There is a way to approach things like how drugs affected a career, future, and legacy, because there are meaningful questions that could be asked, but not way way these guys are doing this.

I miss Ricky man! Dude is smart, incredible player, and genuinely a good person. I met him couple times, guy is a class act and was completely misunderstood. He is probably one of the most pacifist and good hearted guys around, but he demanded respect. Richie would never have even attempted to bully this dude!

Pretty sad we have to depend on deadspin to do digging and ask the uncomfortable questions. Cannot count on the mainstream media.

Because Cog is the type of leader football players want on their team, because he is a animal and crazy man. That's what you want in a player. He's also a guy that will defend his team mates no matter what. Cog went FAR beyond the line when he went after Martin outside of the facility. If he simply kept it within the facility he was doing the right thing. He was trying to grow Martin a backbone. He along with others on the team saw a major flaw in Martin, which was an outward weakness.

I'll take a player like Cog, minus the sub human stalking any day of the week.

Martin's people were brilliant to leak that voice mail. The only people in a position to defend Richie are his teammates and former teammates, and of course that will all be handwaved away with the "his teammates will take up for him no matter what" defense. Between that and his history of being an out of control idiot, there is simply no way for a competing narrative to be framed.

Again, players defend players...nothing wrong with it, but take their statements with a grain of salt.

True, bur you also have to look at which is saying it. I would believe Bess and Ricky, they are both honest and smart guys IMO.
