Ricky's new comments irk me

I actually took it positively. The problem Ricky had mentally was he had childish views regarding how life should be. I'm not happy, the game isnt fun anymore, blah blah blah. I took from that interview that he finally got rid of viewing the game in some idealistic way and is going to approach the game like a job and take it for what it is. But since its Ricky we are talking about who the f@*k knows for sure

Yea this is the guy who said be careful who you lay down with because they may get pregnant.

He's not the most mature person that ever lived that is for sure. I think this is his biggest problem. He's basically a child in a mans body.

Darn, that's harsh.

The first part was harsh, but this part is just plain untrue. I'm a die hard Dolphins fan.

Well I believe Wicky did that, but I do not agree JJ did that. The TWO situations are not even remotely comparable IMO.

I think that's been one of Ricky's issues with football anyway. He has always tried to stay out of the spotlight. I took his comments to mean that he just wants to blend in with the team as opposed to being the star. He can be criticized for a lot of things, but I think this may be an empty criticism of him. He doesn't desire to be the star of the team, and he never really has desired to be the star of the team.
damn dude could not have said it better myself........ :D

What situation?

Wait -- are you guys talking about the coach? It's annoying that I share initials people sometimes use (as in this thread) with that darn coach. Now that I think about what has been written, that is the only explanation that makes sense unless I have just pissed a large part of the board off without knowing it.

I try to make sure that I don't mistake the use of the shorthand for the coach (or the RB) for me, but in this case it's darn clear at least the first reference to JJ was about me.

Ricky Williams has been back on the Dolphins' practice field for a week, and the former Pro Bowl running back isn't concerned with trying to reclaim his old form after a year away from the game.

"I don't expect to get back to where I was a few years ago," said Williams, who returned to the NFL after walking away a week before the start of the 2004 training camp.

It says that he is not trying to reclaim his old form. The first time I read the qoute I thought he was talking about his weight and muscle mass.

"I don't believe in goals. I think goals are your imagination. When you make goals, the time and energy you spend in setting goals is time and energy that you are taking out at that present moment."

That bothered me a bit. I guess it's just the way he looks at it though. IMO goals are to set a direction. If you don't have something specific you are striving for, it would seem easier to lose focus and passion... not that that's ever happened with this guy.

Settle down, Jimmy James. That is definitely Jimmy Johnson they are talking about. BTW, I don't think JJ(coach) turned his back on the fins, he just screwed them over with his ego.

lol in this case I'm not 100% sure Ozzy meant JJ as in the former Miami Dolphins HC.

But I did not think he was talking about you at all. I have heard Ozzy say a few times before JJ the former Dolphins HC was a straight up quiter to him so I just assumed that is what he was getting at again.

:rofl3:

"Settle down, Jimmy James" reminds me of something Butthead would say. :)

I would agree with your position on Johnson.

Why is everyone on the edge of their seats everytime this guy opens his mouth? If you take anything from any words that come out of Ricky's mouth then youre just as nuts as he is. Ricky is crazy, sorry if thats not politically correct or whatever, I guess he has an "emotional condition" or "disorder" or something of that nature, whatever. He doesnt understand how to talk to the press, never has. He's never taken his athletic gifts seriously, he's always acted strangely. When he says anything coherent or smart that would be news but silly stuff like this doesnt register with me. You just can't analyze what he says like he is a sane person because he isnt.
Ricky came back because he had the judgement against him for the bonus money. I have no misconception about that. I still think with his superior athletic ability he can still be a really good runningback but hes just not a football player at heart. We can't make him into that, he's just not one of those guys that loves the game.

How does "moving foward" translate into "I want to be even better?" Did you not read his comments????? The man openly admits not expecting to get to the level he was at.

I think the quote has been taken completely out of context. I watched the press conference that this quote came from. Ricky was not saying that he can't be as good as he was before.

My understanding:

He was talking about his playing weight.

Since Ricky's return, people have been watching him - trying to find the smallest flaw. One of the things the critics have complained about is that he lost 10 pounds.

I thought the reporter asked if he could get back to the weight that he play at before. Ricky said that he wasn't concerned with that, he just wanted to move forward and play the best that he could.
