I'm not going to argue with those who choose to act like Ricky spit in their mama's face about their opinion. To do so would seem silly to me. What I will argue about is trumping up any old reason to bring it up. Seriously -- what's next? Ricky looks down a little too long and somebody interprets it as him longing for the grass?
I didn't mean to come off as confrontational by calling your comment "weak". I meant that you usually have a much more defensible comment and that was not up to your high standard. That said people are more than entitled to critisise anyone they want at any time, and Ricky is a nice public target. If I've learned anything since last year, it's that Ricky doesn't even know the words coming out of his own mouth. Don't dissect them. He has REAL difficulty expressing himself in public.

No his comments do not irk me. I am glad he left the team last year. I did not like the way he did it, but I thought overall it was the right move. Wannstadt was a disaster so Ricky got the hell out, and I do not blame him. To me it does not matter that we were 4-12 last year - I prefer that to 9 and 7 or even 10 and 6 and out of the playoffs. Dumbstadt would have been kept on and Feeley would be battling Fiedler. Taylor and Thomas would have had more tread taken off of them and this whole calamity could have gone on and on and on.
Your negative sentiments towards Ricky reflect the majority. In my opinion, a lot of indignity over a player priemere player who chose not to go through the abuse of playing week in and week out that is the NFL in a hopeless situation. Saban is absolutely correct in NOT honoring your majority opinion. He is right to not even take it into consideration, which I said he would not prior to Ricky returning.
Fans, imo, are strange. Guys who are ex-cons, in trouble with the law for domestic abuse, alleged assaults (Redskins safety), or other very serious moral infractions are welcomed, but guys who have offended some imagined ethic of the locker-room are excoriated -bizzarre!
Ricky is eccentric, very intelligent and very talented. We knew this when dumbstadt traded the kitchen sink for him, and many predicted strange things may occur. So what's the complaint? We all got a buyer beware sticker and we still laid our future draft choices out to the Saints. It was a good move then, because Saban is making silk out of a pigs ear now.
Ricky's comments to me are interesting. They show something other then the same old trite "we played good offense, good defense, got up and down the field well. We were really able to execute well and I think coach really got us prepared for the game."
All of my prediction to date about Ricky and Saban have come true. I posted he would return, on time, in good shape. I also predicted that he will absolutely tear it up on the field this year. Ricky is a man on a mission. So put your seatbelt on and get yourself on the learning curve!

Learn to seperate Ricky the player from Ricky the person. Can you blame him for quitting? Ricky is a smart dude. He saw what was going on. He saw the ineptitude of the coaching staff and saw that it was going no where. ..He did what he wanted to do and left?
What's better..staying around when you're heart's not in it or being around when it is?
The jury is still out on the latter..but at least give him the benefit of the doubt..for now.

My opinion: What he's doing is saying that he's not really setting goals.
He's living for the present, not the future. That would be a good thing due to the fact that it would be a sign of him keeping expectations off of himself. This would lower the stress factor. It's a positive thing. He's still gonna blow up some defenses this year.

Ricky's comments are bourne out of his new "philosophy of life" taken from his holistic medicine training..."Live for the moment", "moving forward", be concerned with today, rather than yesterday"....
That being said...I personally think it and RW are a crock of ka-ka....I say we get what we can from him as a RB, but they'll be no tears when he hangs up his cleats for good from me...The issue with that "philosophy" is how soon will it be that his concern for the moment turns into another trip into the Outback ! We all need to face the fact that this guy is, at best, unreliable. Sure, he'll be able to turn the corner like he has in the past (in time), but how long will he be doing that is the real question...
