Rivalry uniforms

Yeah, I liked those Jaguars uniforms. I think Miami can do even better. Some of those designs for a black Dolphins helmet look really good.

We're also talking about an alternative uniform, which might be used a couple of times a year. Personally, I hate the all orange alternates. Although, I think orange works well as a complementary color.
Yeah, the orange just seems to never work, although, weirdly, I do like how the Univeristy of Tennessee pulls it off.

There’s a SI cover with a dolphins player back in the day I think it was even before 72 where he had this deep rich aqua blue color on it, can’t find it but I know it’s out there
Frank Emanuel in 1966 or 67. He was an LB from Tennessee, picked 9th overall, who never quite panned out. So, just for you old buddy I went and found it.

August 8, 1966: On this day 57 years ago, Frank Emanuel became the first Miami Dolphins player to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The magazine did a cover story on the expansion team for its August 8, 1966 issue. Emanuel was a rookie linebacker out of the University of Tennessee. He played 4 seasons for the Dolphins from 1966 to 1969. Emanuel finished his career with the New Orleans Saints in 1970.

I never want to see the Dolphins in a black helmet or any other color besides white.

That is one beautiful uniform.

We all have our preferences. It will be interesting to see what the rivalry uniforms turn out to be. Grey, black, orange? Obviously, winning is what matters.

I agree, but did you notice how Csonka does not have stripes on his sleeves that day like Kiick and Morris do? I wonder if, for some reason, he wore a practice jersey that game.
He's also apparently not wearing the orange long-sleeved t-shirt under his jersey, which was supposed to help QB Bob Griese spot his receivers more easily.

That's an interesting aspect I do not recall hearing back then. Was it only the backs, or did the WRs and TEs wear the orange sleeves too? I cannot recall Twilley and Warfield wearing them. As for Mandich or Fleming, I don't recall either way. You'd think with a midday home game, if this were early season, it would be pretty hot and Csonka may not have wanted the orange undershirt to help stay cooler.
