Robert Hunt

Davis is average but the athlete looks a little better to me this year. Looks like he worked on his body more and maybe leaned up somewhat. Being asked to be a guard/tackle hybrid can effect the weight you want to be at etc.

I do agree that he’s gonna struggle with legit speed off the edge cause he doesn’t have great feet or foot speed for the ask but I’d betcha all the money in my wallet so will hunt.
Of course Hunt will struggle a bit at first but the sooner he plays the sooner he gets better.

If you're saying Hunt has the same upside as Davis I would question that, and would have to say we made a bad pick then. I don't believe that.

That’s not what I’m saying. Where did I say that? I said that it looks to my eye that guard is where he will make his long term meal ticket. But again I just need to see a couple sets to see if he even has tackle tools to work with. You can’t just put any foot athlete at tackle it doesn’t work that way.

So what is your undeniably correct analysis based on if you haven't seen him? You usually do your homework.

It’s obvious you don’t agree and that’s fine. I don’t care. I don’t care if anyone agrees.

I saw belongs in a phone booth on that college tape. Does not belong on an island in space. Mostly cause I didn’t see the feet and foot speed for the position. As far as the short area quickness to redirect and recover that’s something I couldn’t really tell in college. I would lean off the looks I did to not having it but I’d like to get more confirmation. Really of all of it.

And so when he takes some actual sets i think I will probably get the confirmation tbat I expect. Til I see something different that’s what I’m gonna roll with

Keep in mind college tackles get kicked inside all the time in the pros cause they don’t have the feet and foot speed to survive in that much space.

Our own Erik flowers failed at tackle and got kicked inside and basically rescued his career and I had a guard eval even there even though he was a tackle draft pick and early pro usage until obvious failure

While Hunt dominated against weaker players in college, he still has a lot to learn at the NFL level. I don’t see him starting this year unless there are injuries on the offensive line. At this point I think they are letting him sit and learn with the hope he will take a huge step forward next year after getting a full offseason of OTA’s and a regular preseason.

I doubt he will be sitting long if we get a tackle injury. If it’s left side it’s probably gonna be davenport if it’s right unless they are more comfortable with davenport as the swing I think it’s go time with Hunt. I don’t know much about Pankey though would seem real fringe

You are definitely correct, we don't know yet if he can play RT or not, he hasn't been in a game to find out. Now's the time to find out.

I don’t know why some of you are so impatient. The coaching staff sees him daily in practice. If he were better than Davis right now he’d be starting. It’s okay to not start every rookie out the gate. Let the guy get some NFL coaching and some experience in practice and let him grow as a player rather than being thrown into the fire and get your QB beat up if he’s not ready.

Because terrible stretch of play is no longer the measure. Hunt was drafted to better the RT play. I want to see it.

When Hunt proves he is worth the chance in practice he will get the chance until then, he sits.....

You could always hold your breath like my kid did in the past, perhaps you'll look cool in a shade of blue/aqua? Doubt it will be any more effective then it was for him though.

Dumb post. Your attempt at being a cool dad failed miserably.

Lol, actually I was trying to show YOU how silly YOU were being with the "I want to see it" comment.

Unfortunately, you did not take note of it...perhaps in time.

No rush to get Hunt in. Davis is solid and a good guy in the huddle with two rooks already starting. Hopefully Hunt is the long term answer at RT, leaving Davis as the utility OL who can play everywhere but C.

Jesse is playing decent ball. No prob there.

They are bringing in Hunt in short yardage / goal line.

Made sure I watched him. Big and strong but did look

kind of heavy footed -- even power run blocking.

My inside source tells me they have him river dancing

plus ballet to "lighten up" and add foot speed.

True Story!

I believe ballet. But I call shenanigans on the river dance...he needs to use his arms and hands! ?

I would agree with Scotty on this issue.

IMO Davis is athletically tapped out, he looks average. There's much more upside with Hunt.

Hunt will develop quicker by playing and learning from his mistakes, now's the time for that to happen, not when Tua's playing. The whole concept of building a young team and developing them is not by sitting them on the bench.

If Hunt does not respond to his playing time you need to know that to draft a RT. Davis is average and is not the future of a SB contender or Tua's blindsided.

My opinion of course.

Opinion based on a feeling.

No metrics, no tape. Just pure gut.
