I know we've talked about him a bit on here for the last 3 months but overall seems like he's fallen through the cracks when talking about our upgrades. When talking about DE's, freak like bend is something you want to hear. Laremy Tunsil and Robert Quinn battling in training camp is what I want to see. Talent vs. Talent. And it's possible right now those 2 players are the most talented pair on our team.

This guy is essentially playing for 40% of what Suh was going to make this year and could have just as big an impact on our D as ND ever did. There's no question he's battled through some injuries the last couple years but he's got some mileage still left in those legs apparently. Still only 28 years old and probably not looking at giving up on his career after 2018. I'd like to see him put in 4-5 productive years as a Dolphin.

To essentially swap him for Jarvis Landry and save $6 Million is a coup IMO.

If he picks up where he left off in 2017, should be a nice boon for our D.

Charles Harris, pay attention.

If healthy, he will be monstrous, possibly the best pickup we've had in a long while.

We'll see...I don't believe CK is high on him.

BTW, What's the point in having guys like him and Wake if our DBs are going to play man-press? Forcing the QB to have to hold onto the ball.

I kind of see this as "the most underrated offseason addition(s)". Along with GORE on offense.

Funny you mentioned HARRIS. He's another guy I'm very interested to see, with his added weight & experience from last year.

QUINN, GORE & an improved HARRIS? Bring it on!!!

With Quinn, it's not about natural ability. It's about physically how does he hold up? Having endured some significant injuries, we're not sure what we're getting. To hear the players talking about what they're seeing as far as his explosion and bend, is very promising. If he still has the ability to do those things, it will show when the pads come on. An injury-plagued veteran isn't likely to push it too much in the preseason games, but he'll test it in practice from time to time, so I'm interested to see if the excitement is still as strong when we're doing padded practices. If so, I'll get very excited.

Right now, guys are watching film. We know that at his physical peak, Robert Quinn was one of the most dominant pass rushing DE's the game has seen. The problem is that it was a short peak, followed by significant injuries and then being played out of place in a 34. Wade Phillips was able to choose and chose Ndamakong Suh over Robert Quinn for his defense. Matt Burke was given the opportunity to add Robert Quinn but was not given the option to keep Ndamakong Suh.

I'm cautiously optimistic--more so than CK is--because having a good 2nd edge rusher changes the dynamics of how teams play Wake. Even if it is just switching the double-team from Suh to Quinn, it is a win financially in the long run. More likely, we'll generate more pass rush and edge pressure. The trick comes in that QB's can now step up in the pocket to safety, since our DT's are meek.

I don’t think he is forgotten, just not as big you allude to. He had 12.5 sacks in the past 2 years. I think it was a smart trade, and worth the salary, but he isn’t a slam dunk. I’m excited about him joining our D, but you aren’t getting national media all hyped up for 12.5 sacks the last 2 years.

8.5 last year playing out of position is how I'd frame it.

One more year removed from injury, and back playing at DE, I would not be surprised with 12.5 sacks in 2018 if he gets the snaps.

He is an upgrade only because we had next to no pass rush production out of a DE outside of Wake. He had 8.5 sacks last year playing on one of the most stacked d-lines in the league. And he had 9 combined in the two seasons before that. He's not very good anymore.

There's some truth to what you said, but I wouldn't put too much weight in last year's sack numbers, because they made him play out of his position all year. But last year's numbers were still good considering that fact actually.

8.5 sacks from a DE playing OLB is "not very good anymore?"

This guy was unbelievable a few years ago, and now that he is healthy again.....loving it. The only thing that concerns me is that bend, someone coming off a back injury that loves to contort his body the way he does can't be good.
